Ian Kamau in conversation with Bob Marley’s granddaughter?! I’m down.
This Friday, August 5th (in Toronto) I am organizing an informal Gathering on youth and spirituality with Rita & Bob Marley’s granddaughter, Donisha Prendergast. This session is connected to a film called RasTa coming out this September; the session on Friday is called RasTa Sessions: Reasoning On Youth and Spirituality, it is a FREE and informal conversation in Alexandra Park in partnership with Scadding Court Community Centre (where I worked for years in my teens and early twenties). The session will explore tradition, spirituality, culture and knowledge and give young people the opportunity to speak with Donisha about their own spirituality, ask questions and contribute to the conversation. You can find more information about the film at www.rastaonline.ca

Producers…nothing wrong with releasing an instrumental album. There’s a whole lane for that kind of thing. Nuff producers tour and do club gigs just off their productions. You just gotta be creative with it. Anyways…Element is doing just that with his project Days of This. Here’s more info:
FRMTHEGRDUP is proud to release “Little Ocean“, the second single off of LMNT’s forthcoming instrumental project titled “Days of This“. The track will be available today as a free download. Upon it’s September 8th digital release, “Days of This” will be offered for free via Bandcamp.
“Little Ocean” is an UK glitch/ IDM inspired musical working comprised of samples and a minimoog voyager XL.
Today, enjoy the free mp3 download to the titled second single.
The first visual footage of Drake bringing us not just another “OVO Fest”, but another classic moment in Toronto hip-hop history. From The Weeknd’s performance – which only reminded me that this kid has pretty much broken all the rules with his meteoric rise; Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, J.Cole, the God-MC Nas; but most importantly the legendary Stevie Wonder’s appearance on stage with all that 2011 swag looked surreal, phenomenal and inspiring all at the same time (he will be featured on “Take Care”).
