December 26^th, 2009: This holiday season, Toronto hip-hop joins together once again to celebrate The Boombox Saints- Round 10; Boomboxing Day. A landmark installment in this successful series of performance parties, Boombox is pulling out all the stops this time around – no doubt, topping every other legendary show in the past: Videographers, live body art, photo booths, silent auctions, free giveaways and charitable donations will all be in effect on top of classic beats and dope party rockers. To top it off, The Boombox Saints are releasing their debut CD/DVD set of new, exclusive and classic material – showcasing their musical talents and visual memories over their 5 years as Toronto’s most consistent hip-hop collective. Performances have been stripped down to Boombox’s core, while still offering an array of special guests over the night – Fundament, Roshin, Smash Brovaz, Rich kidd, Rayhaan, Kitknows. Hosted by up and comers WraBeanz, and featuring guest appearances from D-Sisive, Muneshine, Notes to Self and plenty more. ..  Boxing Day (@ The El Mocambo). This will be an event for the books!

To say that Swedish electro-soul four-piece Little Dragon are full-fledged underground heroes here in the city still doesn’t quite describe the energy that surged through the always bumping Wrongbar last Wednesday, as the group paid their second visit to the Queen West hotspot this year alone. That energy was not reserved for the headliners alone, however, as a good portion of the paying public turned out in support of hometown vocal powerhouse Saidah Baba Talibah in her opening spot.

RICH KIDD HOSTING HEART AND STROKE BENEFIT AT TOTA LOUNGE ON OCTOBER 29, 2009

On Thursday, October 29th 2009, nationally recognized producer Rich Kidd will be hosting a benefit for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Considering that the hip-hop community is highest at risk for heart disease – yet the least aware of the statistics – event organizer Tara Muldoon will be launching a series of events through 2009/2010 to draw attention to the preventable disease. Along side host Rich Kidd, DJ Jug E will be playing hip-hop favourites all night long.

Rich Kidd is currently sitting number one on Flow 93.5 for his production on the K-OS, Saukrates and Nelly Furtado single “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman” and had produced for artists such as Drake and Busta Rhymes. He is known for his charismatic hosting abilities and is proud to be involved with a great cause.

The theme of the night is the “Red Drink” which is a vodka cranberry mix, and all proceeds go directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Statistics to ponder:
*There are an estimated 70,000 heart attacks each year in Canada. That’s one heart attack every 7 minutes.
*Over 17,000 Canadians die each year as the result of a heart attack. Most of these deaths occur out of hospital.

About the Heart and Stroke Foundation:
The Heart and Stroke Foundation, a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy.

Last night I checked out a hilarious play starring my good friend and awesomely talented actor Ravi Jain, co-starring equally impressive Adam Paolozza.  This play goes through the trials and tribulations of the corporate world and it’s totally out of whack stance on our world economy.  Be prepared to ride a roller-coaster of emotions as you follow these two on their journey from the top of the ladder to the bottom…
