NEWS: Untitled Signs to DTP + Ludacris – How Low (rmx) feat. Untitled & Quinn Maybach

hyperadmin | Music,News | Friday, February 5th, 2010

Shouts to Quinn Maybach who got me the news that Untitled has signed a deal with Ludacris’ Disturbing The Peace label! They kinda disappeared from the scene after having some great success with “All I Need” and “Crazy” a couple years back and we KNEW they were on their grind south of the border so to get this news isn’t necessarily a surprise (as we knew they were destined for big things) but definitely very welcomed! CONGRATS to the whole fam!

Here’s a remix to Luda’s hit “How Low” featuring Untitled and Quinn Maybach! Produced by Toronto producer T-Minus!!! Also…hit the jump for a video of DTP head honcho Chaka Zulu and Untitled clownin’ in the studio!

k-os chops it up with HipHopDX.com about the U.S. release of Yes, Natalie Portman, Kardi, his upcoming work with Drake and more!

k-os Reveals Work With Drake, Talks Natalie Portman
February 03, 2010 01:02:00 PM CST   |   by Paul W Arnold

If you don’t know the name k-os, rest assured you will be well aware of the spitter/singer and his addictive fusion style within the next few months. Following the U.S. release on February 23rd of the Toronto native’s hypnotic Electro-and-Rock flavored fourth full-length, Yes! (led by its latest single, the catchy and comically-titled “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman”), k-os will be further exposed to the stateside masses via several recent recordings with fellow Canadian export Drake.

k-os revealed during his discussion with HipHopDX this past Tuesday (January 26th) just what he and Aubrey Graham have been working on together of late. The 15-plus-year veteran of T-Dot’s music scene also provided to DX some interesting insight into the disdain some of his countrymen have for Drake, but why all of his fellow Canadians should “take notes” from the most successful Canuck in the states to date.

EVENT: Black Present (A BHM Celebration Of Excellence)

hyperadmin | Events,News | Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Celebration Of Excellence (Front)

February is Black History Month (BHM), symbolically a time for reflection and acknowledgement of the historical achievements of the Black diaspora. During this time we get an influx of info about the notable pioneers of the past, but kudos to Up From The Roots and Six Ah We Arts Collective for paying homage to the pioneers of the present with their “Black Present: A Black History Month Celebration Of Excellence” initiative.

5 members of our city’s on-going urban legacy: Trey Anthony (Da Kink In My Hair); Dr Jay (Soca Therapy); Dameion Royes (Big It Up); Luther Brown (DoDat) & Dwayne Morgan (When Brothers Speak, The Makings Of A Man) will be honoured at this event taking place this Sunday @ Revival (783 College St).

We got sooo much present-day pioneers and history-makers in our midsts that we take for granted.

Good to see some local recognition happening.

“Show respect while they alive that’s love, that’s peace, that’s hats off to the white glove!”

Marco Polo & Ruste Juxx Set The eXXecution

Album In Stores March 23rd, 2010 on Duck Down Records

Album Is Entirely Produced By Marco Polo and Features Appearances From Sean Price, Black Moon (Buckshot, 5FT & DJ Evil Dee), Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Freddie Foxxx & DJ Revolution

Marco Polo & Ruste Juxx have combined forces to bring fans a serious dose of hardcore Hip Hop. The eXXecution is entirely produced by Marco Polo with Ruste Juxx providing gut-wrenching vocals over heavy hitting drums.

Marco Polo explains that a “simple studio session to play beats turned into Ruste Juxx recording 9 songs. The joints came out so crazy that we said let’s turn this into a full-length album. Working with Duck Down all these years it was only a matter of time before Juxx and I got to a specific project. The best part is the work happened organically. Nothing was forced. Ruste came through, heard beats, wrote, recorded…done deal. March 23rd is The eXXecution!”

More info, music and video clips after the jump!
