FAMOUS STARS IN GODDESS GIRL: THE MOVIE Rapper makes acting debut in innovative sophomore project.
TORONTO, AUGUST 25th, 2009
On October 6th, 2009, Toronto emcee Famous is set to release Goddess Girl – the follow-up project to his critically acclaimed debut The I RAP NOW EP. Goddess Girl is a short film written and directed by new filmmakers A&R (Ashton “Famous” Bishop and Reza “rez DigitaL” Dahya) as well as a soundtrack produced by Toronto beat-makers Burd & Keyz which features 8 new Famous songs.
Goddess Girl: The Movie is split up into 8 short scenes. Scenes will be released weekly over an 8 week period – each featuring a snippet of a different song from the soundtrack. The scenes are imagery only but compliment the tone of the accompanying song. When all linked together they tell the intriguing story of the “Goddess Girl”. The main focus of each scene is to visually compliment the featured song and to drive the viewer to download the full song via the new Goddessgirlmovie.com website which launches on September 1st, 2009. People often ask me the craziest part about becoming “famous” and I’ve never had an answer until yesterday.
“You’ll spend half of your time defending yourself and the other half trying to stay sane resulting in you being forced to find time to be creative”
I often wonder in a time where new artists exist in a impersonal cyber world of instantaneous information, if we will ever have another rap legend that can manage to maintain the image that our idols had prior to this method of promotion. I am not suggesting that this person should be me, I am just urging a generation to understand that in order to have anyone of any significance in our lives that we can look up to there will be things that we must look past. There are people that buy sell and trade evil on a daily basis…when u believe in their brand is when they win.
“Even photoshop couldn’t change me”
– Me
I also want fans to know that I am only releasing this EP so that everyone involved in the project can hold a physical copy of the CD in their hands and see it in the store. And for anybody else who feels that So Far Gone marked a moment in time I just wanted to give you the option to have the disc. If you got it for free and want to keep it that way than by all means I urge you too. That was a gift from me to you…Thank Me Later.
“Hey, Abs here…my song “T.Ode” (w. The Obliques, feat. Notes To Self) is one of ten finalists in the City of Toronto’s official song contest (winner gets $5000!). “Today, August 18, 2009, acclaimed DJ/Producer, J.Period and rising Somali-born MC, K’NAAN are pleased to announce a unique and powerful remix project, paying tribute to the lasting legacy of these musical giants. Weaving afro-beat, reggae, ska, folk music and rock into this genre-bending musical experience, The Messengers stretches the boundaries of hip hop—and the mixtape genre itself. Remixing the classic work of Fela, Marley and Dylan, captures the timelessness of their sounds and the continued urgency of their messages. The result, as fans have come to expect from J.Period, is like no mixtape you’ve ever heard.”
The full album drops September 22nd but you can get a 3 song sneak preview overHERE!
“While on the Toronto set for his forthcoming “Successful” video, he revealed to MTV News exclusively that he’ll be re-releasing So Far Gone to retail outlets on September 15. According to Drake, the revamped project will feature most of the familiar tracks that have powered his rise, from the Trey Songz and Lil Wayne-backed “Successful” to his hit “Best I Ever Had.” But there will be a new record, “Fear,” added to the track list. The never-before-heard song will be tacked on to the end of So Far Gone and will serve as the transition from his mixtape to Thank Me Later. According to Drake, the last line of “Fear” will be the first line heard on his debut.”
Normally, Drake makes headlines with his music, which has led him to become one of the most buzzed-about MCs in recent years.
But this week the Toronto rapper’s unexpectedly candid comments about Universal Motown head Sylvia Rhone have further stirred blog fodder that began with his dismissive line about the executive on a track titled “Say What’s Real,” from his breakthrough mixtape So Far Gone.
In an interview with MTV News this week, Drake apologized to Rhone, saying his comments — both in the song and in a recent interview — were “emotionally charged” and “very brazen.”
