E continues her promo grind for the album At Last which is available now!

She looks like the girl next door but she sounds like she’d knock your teeth out.

Quick-tongued hip-hop artist Silk Kaya, who performs as Eternia, has a knack for rhymes and said she found a home in Astoria four years ago after responding to a craigslist ad.

Since then she has earned a record deal and recently filmed a series of short music videos titled “Queens Chronicles” in which she offers a glimpse into the neighborhood she fell in love with.

“It picked me, I didn’t pick it. It was kind of fate,” Kaya said. “What it’s become to me is a family, a neighborhood, a home, and a place that I don’t want to leave.

NEWS: Tanika Charles Feature w/ CanadianMusicFest.com

hyperadmin | News | Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Get to know Tanika a lil’ better in this feature with Canadianmusicfest.com.

Closing your eyes might help you imagine Ms. West, boldly sashaying across the screen, a wake of affected men left undeniably helpless in her thrall. If you’ve ever been left in that position, then you can understand Mz. Chawls’ potion of soul magic. At once a study in stunning contrasts, like platinum butterfly wings, the Toronto born Edmonton raised Mz.Chawls operates in a sonic time capsule possessing the assurance of Inez Foxx, the vulnerability of Tammi Terrel, and the smoldering intensity of Betty Wright. Mz.Chawls is the Truth. Soul music seems to have come full circle with the re-introduction of greats like Al Green and Lee Fields to a younger audience, and now Tanika Charles marks its completion.

The Toronto press concurs, as Now Magazine voted Mz. Chawls as, Best R&B Singer Of 2008.

NEWS: Vote For Chris Stylez on BET's 106 & Park

hyperadmin | News | Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Click here to vote for your boy! Here’s a message from Chris himself:

My Way..

“..the record shows, I took the blows and did it My Way!” – Frank Sinatra

I feel blessed. Many doubted, but many more believed!

I’m amazed at how a single moment in time, can make the world of a difference to so many on different levels. Just last week, in a BET interview for their “Music Matters” campaign, I had the chance to express why music matters to me; This week that very interview was displayed across television screens worldwide!

On Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 I was blessed with an opportunity of a lifetime – to introduce myself and my music to world, the only way i knew how – My Way. A series of live performances, a few candid flicks and interviews, and lastly the debut of my very first single and music video “Fade Away” on BET’s 106 & Park as the New Joint of the Day! For the first time in my life, I realized I was living my Dream. Through all of the disappointments, obstacles, and nightmares, a single moment in time where one realizes one of their dreams, makes it all worthwhile.

Much love and appreciation to BET’s Terrance Clayton, Kelly Griffin, Belinda Hill, and staff for their support & integrity. Bryan, Jon, Dave G., and Philthy, please continue to rock with me on this journey! My bro Murdock has been a true asset to the movement, and all this would not be possible without JANO, Hanan, Claire, Josie, Topsy, Jeremy, Aaron, Hayden, Adriana, Slick, and the rest of the High Style Society & elasme.

Most of you I have never met, some are old friends who’ve managed to stay close over the years, and a few of of you are my relatives. If nothing else, I ask that you see this as a testament to what passion, sacrifice & dedication can bring your lives – Keep Dreaming!

Your continued support means the world to me, and I look forward to sharing much more with you throughout this life, and beyond.

Sincerely,

Chris

Toronto, ON — Today, Tuesday October 26, 2010, Performing Producer Slakah the Beatchild releases his new EP “Something Forever” on BBE. The 7 track EP is available now on all major digital music store sites.

Slakah describes “Something Forever” as “the theme that is forever at the forefront of my mind when I create music.” He goes on to say, “we can easily identify music that has that indescribable timeless vibe, music that regardless of the time period in which it was created sounds refreshing and relevant when played. That’s the essence of “Something Forever”… timeless music”.

An early review of “Something Forever” by MOOVMNT.com states:

“Rarely have I encountered a 7-track EP that blew me away. Normally you find one or perhaps two good songs on an EP, if that. But “Something Forever” is 100% pure quality. No fillers, no intro + outro… nah just seven wonderful tracks that don’t even sound alike. Please pay attention to this release producers. This is how it should be done! In my opinion Slakah’s putting BBE on the map again… Trust me on this…you want to pre-orderthis one.”

2. Something Forever
3. Living for the Rush
4. The Things I Do (For Her)

NEWS: Shad Tops The National Post's Top 10 Rappers In Canada List

hyperadmin | News | Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Let the arguing begin lol. Via The National Post website! At least Soxx is on this one (unlike The Vancouver Sun‘s list that came out a few months back….still SMH about that lol).

Here then, are the top 10 (fine, 11) rappers in Canada:

10. Michee Mee: Still no other female Canadian MC has carried the weight of Michee.

9. D-Sisive: Started as a battler. Still battling.

8. Buck 65: He raps about baseball. Enough said.

7. Saukrates / Maestro: It’s a tie at number seven. These two are old school but Saukrates is killing it with his new song about Emily Haines. And without Maestro, there’s no list.

6. Classified: Actually one of our truest hip-hoppers, Class has personality and rugged lyrics. If Canadian rappers were American, Classified would be from Brooklyn or the Bronx (instead of Nova Scotia)

5. K’naan: He’s colourful, charismatic, and a terrific writer blessed with a golden voice. His next move could be anything. Here’s hoping he decides to stay rap.

4. Drake: Singlehandedly keeping Lil Wayne alive while he’s in prison, Drake is not only the most popular Canadian rapper of all-time, he’s also the smoothest, and nearly the best.

3. k-os: Gotta love his rock star approach and his lyrics. Who else drinks white wine in the morning when he must meet the press?

2. Kardinal Offishall: The big boss of the Canadian hip-hop game, Kardi’s been number one for so long that it’s only his recent pop moves with Akon that found him losing ground to Shad. Kardinal is still a serious MC, though. There’s nothing we’d like more than rocking to him retake his crown.

1. Shad: He had us convinced with his first Polaris-nominated record, The Old Prince. Then he dropped TSOL last year, and blew us away. TSOL just dropped in the U.S., where he’s currently touring with k-os. Kanye – get ahold of this man, before you’re opening for him.
