Drizzy got to half a mil in like a week. It took us a little over a year lol. I guess in the world of websites it’s not CRAZY news (as there are many websites that get 500,000 hits A DAY) but in our little world I think the success of this blog thus far is a true testament to the progress our city’s music scene is making. Anyways, don’t want to get all sentimental (insert emoticon hug here) but thanks for checking us out in our first year here in the blogosphere and shouts to all the artists on their grind!

According to ATF, Thank Me Later is officially platinum. Didn’t doubt it would happen for a second. CONGRATS to the whole fam. Incredible accomplishment!!!

New joint, plus event info, from Drex aka one of The Remix Project Generals. Full press release under the hood! Dope cover btw too. A little birdie told me the art direction/design is by Bryan Brock!

Battle of the Beatmakers is back! I remember being a judge a few years back when Boi-1da pulled out his now infamous Transformers beat to take a tie-breaker round with ummm Arthur McArthur I think…??? Sh*t, can’t remember right now. Anyways, there’s already some classic moments at this event and I’m sure this year’s contest will be just as memorable. Producers, don’t sleep! Visit www.soundsupremacy.com for more info!

Tika Simone chops it up with NOW Magazine about her style! If you wanna get Intimate & Interactive with Ms. Simone check her out this Friday night at her weekly open mic night (this week headlined by Tanika Charles!). Info below!
What does style mean to you?
Style is important for a few reasons for me. Number one because there is the whole big taboo about larger women not being able to exude you know, offer, laughter, gorgeous style. I was quite frankly tired of seeing you know disgusting prints or floral carpeting for me to choose from from the regular plus sized stores. I go out of my way to go to Value Village or Black Market or any consignment stores really. It’s so important to me not only cause I’m living downtown and over a size 16, but a lot of young girls really do look up to me. I have to make sure that I come correct or I just don’t come at all. That’s just what it is [she laughs].
