Caught this on 1loveto. Shouts to Matisse, Flo and Tune (Abby too!!!). So great to see the success they’ve seen thus far and it’s only going to get better. They deserve it. So, they’ve hooked up with URB Magazine (nice) to present Live Re-Mixing 101 (basically a mixtape as only KNK could deliver). Another reason why Toronto is truly in the forefront of this whole hip-hop music/culture thingy…
Video trailer for Keys N Krates’ mixtape entitled Live Re-Mixing 101, presented by Urb Magazine.
Live Re-Mixing 101 is the the history of hip-hop and dance getting ripped apart and rebuilt in real-time, resulting in one of the most exciting, connective and participatory experiences in live music today.
Comprised of an award-winning DJ, Jr Flo, Matisse on keys and Adam Tune on drums, Keys N Krates have a communal arrangement that allows a manipulative diversity unprecedented in DJ culture.

We don’t usually promote parties here on Cityonmyback.com but in this case the webisode is a good way for you to place a face to the name of some of Toronto’s best DJs! The Big Ticket is this Saturday! For more info check the FB event page.
MORE Creative Group & Shaman in Association with Offshoot Communications bring to you live:
The BIG Ticket – East vs. West.
Finally, an event to address the years of speculation and debate.
Toronto is a city that is credited to have some of the best DJs in the world. Just go to another city and hear how their DJ’s play and you’ll see it to be true. The debate has always been, Where do the best DJs in Toronto come from? The East or the West?
Music lovers, avid club goers, dancers, bartenders, have gone in on the “great debate”. Its even heard at barber shops, hair salons, parties, and get togethers across the GTA. The debate of course has been a topic of discussion for years by the DJ’s themselves. Now its time to see what these guys are made of.
Week 7/8 of Famous’ Goddess Girl project. It’s a short film split up into 8 scenes with one scene being released every week. Each scene is accompanied by a new song which make up Goddess Girl: The Soundtrack (produced by Burd & Keyz). In scene 7 the story comes together so if you’ve missed any of the previous scenes be sure to visit www.goddessgirlmovie.com! Soundtrack available on iTunes now also!
New music from Captain Hooks (formerly known as D. Brown). Dude’s been grinding for a minute as an artist as well as behind the scenes as a writer. Shouts to T-Minus (produced “Replacement Girl” with Boi-1da, A-Game’s “Go Head Shawty”, Bishop’s “Hard Times” as well as tracks for Plies, Mya, Ace Hood and more). Video directed by Marc Andre Debruyne!
New group that’s out of the city and on their grind. Video above, MP3 below. From their YouTube page:

Nardwuar chops it up with Too $hort as only he can. It’s totally crazy that $hort thinks his greatest contribution to hip-hop is the word “Be****eyatch” (smh). I think he needs to be reminded that his independent hustle selling tapes out of the back of his car in the Bay area in the early ’80’s basically set the blueprint and for the indy hip-hop business model. Seen on NR!
See, I wasn’t lying. Shortly after posting the D-Sisive video below TRF dropped a new joint from D’s free album Jonestown coming out this Wednesday. Cuts by the legendary DJ Grouch.
Caught this on TRF! D never disapoints with he visuals. From URBNET’s YouTube page:

Spliff Star’s (Busta Rhymes’ hype-man and arguably the best hype-man in hip-hop) charisma on stage translates to this clip with Bizz! Check him out at www.livetheculture.com. “No plan, no plot, no motive.” lol.
