NEW VIDEO: Shaun Boothe – The Unauthorized Biography of Oprah Winfrey

hyperadmin | Video | Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

I just learned so much.

FINALLY Shaun Boothe returns with Part 7 of his now famous biography series of songs/videos. The Boothe grind is getting heavy again as he just also released his latest single featuring Kim Davis (below if you missed it last week). To get caught up on the Bio series just peep the YouTube page!

From rags to riches, Oprah has become one of the most powerful and influential women in the world. With the recent finale to The Oprah Winfrey Show, Shaun Boothe pays tribute to the end of an era.

Shaun Boothe presents Part 7 of 12: the Unauthorized Biography of Oprah Winfrey

Having previously covered cultural icons such as: James Brown, Bob Marley, Muhammad Ali, MLK Jr. & Obama, Jimi Hendrix & Sean Combs, Shaun’s next chapter will be Tupac Shakur.

Poised to be next on the list of Toronto Canada’s hottest new musical exports, Shaun Boothe separated himself from the pack with his critically acclaimed Unauthorized Biography Series.

Inspired by Nas’ tribute to Rakim, Boothe’s Bio Series videos summarize the lives and legacies of a wide variety of cultural icons in rhyme form.  Getting blog love from Kanye West and tweets from Diddy himself – Boothe’s sixth icon to get the biography treatment for his ‘Huster’s Edition’- it’s clear that he’s getting the attention of the right people.

With a handful of singles floating around the net, the time has finally come for the release of Shaun’s first full body of work. Waiting Room is a compilation of previously released, unreleased and brand new material.

Boasting production from his go-to producer and cousin Nineteen85, along with a few self produced tracks, Boothe proves on every song to be an honest, thought-provoking wordsmith – Soulfood in a fast-food driven market.

“Oh, your shoes match your shirt – that’s fire/My actions match my words – that’s flyer”

The overall sound is big, musical, sample-driven and often pulls heavily on the raw and genuine emotions of a young kid climbing his way up and looking toward the stars.

“Never had a plan B, this is all I even planned to be”

In an industry where your live show can make you or break you, Shaun Boothe is renowned for his conceptual and highly interactive performances – many of which have graced the opening stages of concerts for multi-platinum artists, including Talib Kweli, Kardinal Offishall, Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Snoop Dogg. Never satisfied with conforming to the norm, Boothe continually pushes the envelope in the live element of hip-hop. One can only imagine what a show it will be when his stars align and he moves from the side stage to center.

Waiting Room hits the street July 5th, 2011.

NEW VIDEO: Keelo Gramz – On Some Otha Ish

hyperadmin | Video | Monday, June 13th, 2011

Catchin’ up with Keelo Gramz. His Grammer Skool EP is available on iTunes now!

Canadian rapper and producer, Keelo Gramz, has signed a marketing deal with The Burnitdown Group LLC. The Burnitdown Group is the independent marketing arm for Shady Records. In conjunction with Black & Blue Signature Marketing, they plan to manage Keelo’s marketing and public relations strategy, overseeing the development and growth of his brand.

Keelo’s tremendously, successful underground rap career spans across 5 years. The Scarborough native and former High School basketball star, began his music career in 2005 where he spent years recording and performing across Canada & the USA. He released his first indie album, Fortunes of the Fearless, which had 3 singles charting in Canada “Here Ya Go”, “Last Call” (Best Hip Hop Song T.I.M.A.) and “Somebody Snitched”.Not being adjusted to the “industry life”, Keelo took some time off to perfect his craft and spend time with friends & family.

His music speaks for itself and to the masses and Keelo Gramz has been impressing audiences with his music.

As Keelo himself said, “I’m just a simple guy that’s trying to get my music to the world”, but he’s a lot more than that.  He’s a talented musician and producer, an amazing performer and is definitely an artist to watch in 2011 and beyond.

VIDEO: The Gifted Club – The Studio #005 feat. Kim Davis

hyperadmin | Video | Friday, June 10th, 2011

The Gifted Club returns with Part 5 of their viral video series. This one features Ms. Davis! Catch up with their movements on their Vimeo page.

This episode is a peak into how a song can come to life when you least expect it.

I was fortunate to work with Kim Davis, a very passionate, honest songwriter with an amazing voice. We made some strong records in the past, so I was confident that this session would be no different.

Kim had a song call “Ridin'” that she had written a while back but couldn’t find a beat that suited it. So she hit me up and asked if I wanted to take a shot at it. Well, after hearing her sing the hook and verse to me acapella… I was sold! I thought a simple melody and drum pattern would do the trick so Kim’s vocals could lead the whole song. In the end, I was very happy with the track.

Vocally, she brought all the passion a producer could hope for and lyrically she was honest and witty, what a great combo! Hope you enjoy a glimpse into “The Studio”.
