hyperadmin | Music,Video | Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

Directed by Middy from MiddyAndDre.

Mr. West is back again with some 2011 homage to BHM.

To finish off his highly successful “Black History Month” series, T-West presents “Black History Month 2011”. While previous “Black History Month” songs have centered around shedding light on the contributions of black leaders in North American society, the final chapter showcases T-West writing a letter to all of those who he honoured in previous songs. Unfortunately, T-West faces some challenges when trying to express the amazing things that blacks are contributing in modern society. Is he able to accomplish his task? Watch the video to find out.

VIDEO: RapCity #Freestyle Week 3 (Junia-T vs. Sese)

hyperadmin | Video | Monday, January 31st, 2011

Via B&K. Don’t think Sese used all 3 words…? At any rate, in 3 weeks the biggest reaction was to Junia-T‘s “Cityonmyback like Ty Harper” line in the first week. Just saying.

The SARS Network Webisodes showcase Canadian Hip Hop’s best underground artists from Toronto to Van-City, all the way to Halifax and everywhere in between. S.A.R.S. (Sick Artists Runnin’ Shit) was founded in 2003 and has consistently released a collaboration of selected artists for a annual CD, as a reference for the local community to get to know the local live Hip Hop acts in their area. With the help of online social media outlets like YouTube, we are getting our local Canadian Hip Hop artists all across the globe.

The SARS Network “Webisode 1” features interviews with “The Legend” Adam Bomb (Freedom Writers) on the set of his new video for his hot new single “My People” Produced by Big Sproxx. The SARS Network was in Newmarket looking for new talent and found it! Caliph of Nasty North Records (nastynorthrecords.com) was interviewed at the end of his preformance and spits a hot verse to let people know who he is. The SARS Network was also on set wit Tona (bigtona.com Freedom Writers) for the video he was filming for his crazy new single “Blue Sheild”. The SARS Network also ran into URBNET Recording Artist D-Sisive for a fun interview to talk about his new album and video “First Summer” on heavy rotation on MuchMusic.

Follow Famous on his RoadToCenterStage.

Today I headed over to Trauma West Studio to put the finishing touches on a record produced by Toronto’s seasoned vet Solitair aka Silver (his alter ego). Like most of my songs, i’m inspired by the beat and this one is no different!

Cheers! – Famous

VIDEO: Thrust UgsMag.com Feature

hyperadmin | Video | Saturday, January 29th, 2011

SICK look at one of Toronto’s true veteran MCs, Thrust. Some crazy pictures/footage in there too with the likes of DJX, Big C, Ice, Funkmaster Flex, Rascalz, Choclair and more! Thanks to RoShine for sending the link, here’s all the info:

Christopher “Thrust” France maybe best remembered for his verse on the Rascalz classic, DJ Kemo produced Northern Touch, featuring Canadian notables Choclair and Kardinal Offishall. But his legacy stretches much further than a dope 12” or a couple of popular music videos.

Living in Toronto – Thrust’s home and arguably the center of mainstream “urban” culture in Canada – it’s clear that the man’s incredibly popular. Little known fact: Thrust appeared in a 1990 Kids in the Hall skit (he was 15 at the time) and for the past few years, he has served as a music instructor, teaching hip hop production (as well as the occasional history lesson) at Harris College. He is probably the youngest Canadian hip hop artist to date and gained much of his hip hop identity from the source – summers in New York City circa late ‘80s-early-‘90s.

With the exception of some pioneers: Michie Mee, Maestro, Dream Warriors and a handful of others, few in Canada were making rap music or breaking into the U.S. market, getting radio play or making a living on it. In the days before broadband and before everybody and their best-friend’s homie rapped or made beats, hip hop in Canada only played on a few select radio stations across the country.

This is the environment where Thrust came up in, which makes him a significant figure – even if you can’t name one of his albums. I caught up with a slimmer, rejuvenated Thrust at “Slept-On Studios” on Toronto’s eastside.
