“Today, August 18, 2009, acclaimed DJ/Producer, J.Period and rising Somali-born MC, K’NAAN are pleased to announce a unique and powerful remix project, paying tribute to the lasting legacy of these musical giants. Weaving afro-beat, reggae, ska, folk music and rock into this genre-bending musical experience, The Messengers stretches the boundaries of hip hop—and the mixtape genre itself. Remixing the classic work of Fela, Marley and Dylan, captures the timelessness of their sounds and the continued urgency of their messages. The result, as fans have come to expect from J.Period, is like no mixtape you’ve ever heard.”
The full album drops September 22nd but you can get a 3 song sneak preview overHERE!

Quoted from the man himself:
“HERE WE GO!!!! AS PROMISED, HERE IS MORE MATERIAL LEADING UP TO THE RELEASE OF MY NEW ALBUM: SAUKRATES…SEASON ONE…”
This track’s definitely been a Boogeyman (TBM) favorite; glad to see this finally come out and hear the first real signs of a Sauks full-length release!
Dj Pack includes Main, Radio, Acapella & Instrumental
Thursday we touched down in Edmonton and the level got turned way up. Inside the West Edmonton Mall, over 1000 excited fans rammed the biggest venue yet. Busta sauntered slowly on to the stage with a drawn out, swagger heavy strut that only he could pull off. Alongside Spliffstar, he jumped into Ante Up Remix and they both leaned left in unison as they rapped “Stay lopsided bust their gats cross eyeded in the subways they rob trains runnin along side it.” As you’d expect the crowd hit the roof with such an explosive opening song. He stopped for the second night in a row and explained the concept of “Arab Money” to anyone who may have been offended. “If you are offended by this song you misunderstand it.” It was clear he wanted to make a point of explaining the concept. After talking about the beauty of the Arab culture and people, he raised his glass to Barack Obama and said “Finally! Someone with a new perspective.”
Simply put Covert Ops is Arcee from The Real Frequency Show (Flow93.5 FM) and Marvel (The Circle, Figures Of Speech). Look for a whole lot more from this duo soon, till then here’s some video highlights of them opening up for Raekwon yesterday @ Sound Academy!
