As more and more people start catching on to the blog I’m finding more and more people are sending us stuff to check out even if it’s been up on YouTube for over a month or even two. Here’s one that was posted back in September but I’m just getting up on now.
Gift Singh is a new artist that I’ve heard whispers about over the past few months. This vid was shot in the summer by CreActive media and was co-directed by Gifty. It features cameos from Devo Brown, Blake Carrington and T-Rexxx from 1loveTo. Gifty is a success story from The Remix Project.
“Take It Slow” is a jazz and hip-hop influenced song about a young man’s journey through Toronto. Though this city is home to great art, talent and diversity, there are also broken families, violence and an overwhelming sense of loneliness. Gifty consciously explores the dual nature of city life and urges his listeners to “take it slow”.
Toronto’s own singer/ producer/ songwriter, Gifty Singh is best known for his first independently release album Lovestreet. Gifty Singh strives to challenge what we are familiar with today by creating a new sound combining Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Soft rock and Alternative giving it authenticity, sincerity and realism.
Lovestreet is now available on iTunes!

For those that don’t know, Toronto’s own Rhea recently became the newest member of N.E.R.D.
Like we always say on OTA Live!, this city prides itself on the fact that we have beautiful women that can actually hold their own vocally without digital assistance.

Toronto’s Graph Nobel releases the video for “Bedroom Lites” as part of the group Idle Warship along side Talib Kweli and Res. Check out yearoftheblacksmith.com for more info! Via 2DBz.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC–What happens when one of the most critically acclaimed underground hip hop producers/mc joins forces with the only Canadian band that plays live Hip Hop, Jazz and Funk Fusion? The result is “The Man”, a response to the call for authenticity, sought after by many across the world, in the realms of an art form that is all too often exploited, misused and left for dead.
Video and more after the jump!
Via TOFLO! My favorite Grammy nominee (sorry Drizzy) sits down with Mo’Nique as well as performs “It Kills Me”! Interview + Mo’Nique’s “blowing session” under the hood.

Harvey Stripes has revealed his latest single, and first international release, “Material Girl”. The track, which features up-and-coming R&B singer Jay Vado, is the fourth single from Harvey this year. It showcases a toned-down version of the rapper’s unique sound with a radio-friendly and sing-a-long hook from Vado. Toronto-based producer Beat Merchant, whose accomplishments range from Juno Award and MuchMusic Award winning hits, produced “Material Girl”.

Got this in an email last week that I completely missed (my bad).
Wio-K feat. Kyza Smirnoff “Hide & Shoot”.
According to Quackas the remix is produced by Lyve (Direct Deposit).
I guess the moral to the story is it always pays to investigate before posting, lol.

A few different versions of this song have hit the web but here’s the official final mastered version from B.Cox himself! Vote for it on the MCC!

Caught this CNN Interview with Drake over at 2DB. Now that I have video proof that there are mothers that use text acronyms I finally have enough ammo to bring my mom into the 21st century, lol.
