Once again our friend Gavin Sheppard is making major moves, not just in Toronto but around the world… hence his aka – “Global Gav”. This time he’s teamed up with the Governor General of Canada, Michaelle Jean for a “Youth Dialogue” in Costa Rica. The project addresses issues facing young people today and how youth are getting engaged in their community to address these challenges.

The North Face mixtape will be a gateway for Canadian artist to bridge the gap within the US market. Long time friends Dukez and Shyan have come together to equally share thoughts and ideas about how to stream Canadian music content into the US industry. Shyan Chippy Ellis who is based out of New York City has many connects with different mixtape DJs and decided to contact Gallic Wars to pitch an idea that would change the industry in Canada forever. Dukez is an entrepreneur based out of Toronto, Canada. He has a lot of support within the city of Toronto and when it came time to further push the idea Dukez decided to sit down with Shyan and plot the biggest mixtape take over in Canada. Several conference calls later. They both agreed on the idea, and was giving the green light to make the Mixtape happen

This Mixtape will show the tremendous talent that Canada has to offer and the diversity in both Rap and R&B. Artist in Canada will now have the chance to package their material on a mixtape that will distributed widely in the US.

Gallic Wars has only been in the game for about three years and has created a Big enough Buzz around NY which caught the attention of Shyan and Dukez.

The North Face Mixtape will be hosted by Redway who is based out of Toronto, Ontario. He has been recently working on his solo project New Day, Same Wing, which is scheduled to drop in January of 2010. Once he heard about the idea of the mixtape he was ready to take off.

Nowadays you got mixtapes, street albums, EPs.. So many names, it’s hard to differentiate.. To me the only real difference between a mixtape and an album is the actual value the artist sees in what he’s offering the listener; and if that’s the case, this should be worth the download (I’m puttin’ pressure on you KJ, lol)

How was the Critics’ list formulated? Billboard’s editors, reviewers and reporters each turned in a ranked list of their personal top 10 albums released between mid-November 2008 and mid-November 2009 (which approximately matches the Billboard chart cycle). Points were awarded inversely to the position each record was ranked. So, if a writer listed an album as a No. 1 choice, it earned 10 points toward the total; at No. 2 it earned nine points, and so on. See the list of writers who voted.
