Straight up Young Tony is one of those local street emcees that at a glance, if you’re not from Toronto, you’d likely take a pass on; and even if you are, you still might not get.
I definitely put him on my list of local artists (Michie, Ghetto Concept, Kardi, Mayhem, Jaydahmann, Frankie Payne, Rich Kidd etc.) with a distinctive and culturally uncompromising hip-hop identity that can only be found in The Mega.
His appearances on tracks like 100 Strong Arm (Wikked I still need a wav/aiff of this!) and D Brown’s Flemo 2 Parma have pretty much given him a local underground hood-rap respect that had a lot of fans wondering why he chose to ‘retire’ several years ago.
Anyways, he’s down with Drake (was part of the now ‘defunct’ Wise Guys) and was recently spotted eating jerk chicken with Drizzy in JA, which had many thinking he might be making a return to the game.
I guess this feature on Big Lean’s “When It All Goes Down” (produced by Boi-1da) answers that question.
There’s also apparently some Page subliminals in his verse too but I’ll let you be the judge on that one..

An album from local producer Emperor Bohe – “The Fantastic”. 19 tracks with an array of features from artists that I’ve honestly never heard of before but if it’s one thing I’ve learned in the digital era, it’s that the notion of ‘knowing it all’ is dead.

One of our best exports in recent years (he’s from London, Ontario but we unabashedly claim him as a Torontonian), Shad returns with his 3rd album TSOL. Shouts to Shad for not telling anyone what “TSOL” actually stands for (not even his management or designer lol). Apparently it stands for a lot of different things so I’m sure we’ll figure it out as the album starts revealing itself musically/visually.
