NEW MUSIC: Lincoln & The Marshin Acadamy – Go (Final Version)

hyperadmin | Music | Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

If you were wondering what happened to Lincoln (formerly from Foundation alongside Rochester and Jahvon) he’s kinda switched gears a bit musically and has been busy working on his new band’s project – Lincoln & The Marshin Acadamy. Considering the genre of music here I’m definitely not the authority but wanted to post this more to update you on what Lincoln has been up to. I think he’s definitely very talented and wish him nothing but success in whatever path he chooses to follow. Anyways, peep the joint below and if it’s your thing then make sure you follow the crew as they have some show dates lined up in the near future!

NEW MUSIC: Regular Robb – To The Game feat. O'Sound

hyperadmin | Music | Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Regular Robb and O’Sound send a BBM message to the game with their new joint. Not to The Game the rapper but to the music game, the life game, the women game etc…etc…etc…Produced by GNJ Music Productions & JazzFeezy Productions. No MP3 is available yet but you can stream it on YouTube below. Personally speaking I’m not a big fan of the whole ‘listening on YouTube thing’ but if it fits in with Robb’s bigger promotional plan for the song then I’m down to support. When the MP3 becomes available we’ll def let you know.

Ok. I’ma just be straight and say that I’ve been on the fence about posting this kid’s stuff. Not that I’m some old fart that can’t appreciate his grind but I initially thought he was like 13 years old (based on his voice) and him talking about getting brains and stuff was just mad corny and frankly distasteful to me. Turns out he just turned 16. Now, this doesn’t mean I want to hear some 16 year old talking about all that stuff but at lease he’s not 12 feel me??? Anyways, TDK aka Tha Dancer Kid is the newest member of Team Offense. They’ve been going hard on the viral videos so peep the one above as well as a few below to get caught up. Peep his YouTube channel also to check out his crew of dancers.

NEW MUSIC: Jenna Andrews – Tumblin' Down

hyperadmin | Music | Monday, April 26th, 2010

Stole this one from Shake too. Heard industry whispers about this girl but here’s the first joint to be leaked from her project (that I know of anyways). She’s managed by Chris Smith Management (Nelly Furtado, Kreesha Turner, formerly k-os etc…). Here’s an excerpt from her bio with a link to the full bio below. Shouts to Chin who is considered music royalty in T.O. and has “worked with Dr. Dre” as part of his amazing list of credentials.

This Calgary native’s musical roots lay within Jazz and Classical. Since the age of 5 she has traveled across North America performing with choirs and on her own. Jenna’s passion for making music has developed into what is now a sound she can call her own.

Big Break

At the age of 18, Jenna opened for Shawn Desman (Sony/BMG) and the Canadian Pop group,” Sky” in her hometown at MacEwen Hall which, at the time, created quite the buzz. Her performance caught the attention of Vancouver based musician singer/songwriter and Juno Award winning artist Chin Injeti (Base is Base, Snow) Suspending her studies in Broadcasting/Journalism at Mount Royal College, Jenna moved to Vancouver for the opportunity to collaborate with Chin and pursue music fulltime. “…music is what I had to do… [Chin] helped me develop my craft.”-Jenna (BEATROUTE magazine).

VIDEO: Drake Talks Evolution of Mixtapes w/ MTV

hyperadmin | Video | Monday, April 26th, 2010

Via 2DBz.

“I think that when creating a mixtape, you have to approach it with a selfless mind-set,” Drake told us. “A mixtape can’t be the songs that don’t make your album, or songs that aren’t good enough to make your album make your mixtape — unless you’re that good. There aren’t that many people that are that good. I’m not that good. That mixtape [So Far Gone] is me working my hardest. It wasn’t ‘Oh, here are the songs I’m gonna give away to you ’cause I have better songs coming.’ A mixtape has become an album.

Before, I remember people used to be in the studio cutting songs, and they would be like, ‘Oh, that song is OK. I’ll just put it on my mixtape,’ ” he added. “Now a mixtape is an actual tool. It’s a format you need. You don’t necessarily need it, but it can be useful. Like with Fab and the other guys, I know they do a lot of rapping on other guys’ beats. It’s hard to tour like that, as incredible as it may be. Now Wayne, when the No Ceilings set comes on, it’s ridiculous. It’s hard to rap over other people’s songs and have it be timeless. With So Far Gone, when I did flip other people’s songs, half the time people didn’t know what song it was. I tried to pick stuff that was new or rare or just like an album cut. But yeah, man, if I use somebody else’s beat, I try to make a song out of it.”

VIDEO: CBC – Music Videos On The Web (News Segment)

hyperadmin | Video | Monday, April 26th, 2010

Shouts to director extraordinaire David F. Mewa for this link to a short feature on music videos aired recently on CBC. The clip features a likkle behind the scenes look at a new Slakah The Beatchild video as well as introduces (to me at least) a new artist from Thunder Bay named Jordan Burnell.

Hey fam and friends. First quarter of 2010 has closed out and your boy has been busy in production of a series of exciting new projects and initiatives. ’10 is shaping up to be a fantastic year. If you don’t already, I invite you to get up with me and THE NE FILMS on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other social media. It is an exciting time for the genre of music video. Take a look at this clip recently run on Canadian television and look out for a flurry of new MEWA directed videos on staggered release in 2010.

Cheers, David F. Mewa.

NEW MUSIC: BDT – Big Dreams (Prod. by C4) (Make A Wish Foundation Initiative)

hyperadmin | Music | Monday, April 26th, 2010

I’m definitely a lil’ late on this but better late than never…especially for a great cause like this. Shouts to C4 for doing something a lil’ different and taking the initiative to actually help someone’s wish literally come true. Basically, C4 linked with the Make a Wish Foundation to make 16-year old Myles Guenin’s wish of recording and releasing a song come true. Myles suffers from Lupus and is a music fan thanks to hearing artists like Lupe Fiasco and Drake. The track ultimately became a collective effort and I’m sure everyone involved learned a lot as well as felt rewarded by the outcome. Shouts to be from The Legends League for the sick artwork also (does this guy ever disappoint?).

On behalf of the Make A Wish Foundation, Hip Hop Canada, The Real Frequency Escape Entertainment, The Legends League and C4 Entertainment, we are proud to present the self titled track by the

“Big Dream Team”

Terrell McLeod Richardson, Matthew “Showtime” John, Shane Guenin, Aaron Baruch, Mcken Charles, Myles Anthony Guenin, Tara Muldoon, Didier Tovel (C4).

NEW MUSIC: Show Stephens – Intro (Sampler)

hyperadmin | Music | Monday, April 26th, 2010

Lots going on for Show Stephens right now. Def a good look as far as hitting the web hard to introduce himself as a new artist (no pun intended). Here’s a nice likkle download with six songs and/or snippets (“I Can’t Deny”, “Love You Girl”, “So Amazing” “Running Out Of Time”, “Introduction” and “Go Crazy”), artwork, his bio and more. “So Amazing” is still my sh*t! Look for that video coming real soon (peep the trailer and BTS below if you missed it).

P.S. I’m back b*tches! L.A. was dope but nothing like the T.O. grind.
