Era gets on his hook duties and helps out Ottawa native Harvey Stripes with the follow-up single to “Material Girl” feat. Jay Vado. Joint’s called “Big Deal” and is produced by Beat Merchant. Shouts to the girl on the track who I have no idea who it is (I’m guessing Anaya Hayes) but she pretty much does as much as Era does (lol) but doesn’t get an official feature credit. Is that sexism? Anyways, don’t forget to vote for Harvey Stripes on The Megacity Countdown!
Fresh off his latest single and video “Material Girl”, Harvey Stripes flips his style and comes with a gritty street banger. From the jump, “Big Deal” hits hard with some dope production by Beat Merchant. The snare drums, along with what sounds like bongo drums in the background, are coupled with ominous tones that give Stripes the canvas on which he illustrates his bravado.
Given the title, this song is about Stripes telling the world about his skills and making them take notice. He shows his confidence with lines like “foamin at the mouth and you barkin at a big dog/all I’m about is a dolla dolla bill y’all”. And let’s not forget about JD Era lending his support to Stripes’ cause by contributing the hook, which only completes the message Stripes is trying to send.
It’s obvious that Stripes is comfortable in his skills as he prepares his album, featuring a lead single with R&B star Lloyd. If he stays on his grind, there’s no doubt that come the end of the year, he will be a “Big Deal”. – Sirmac
Famous is working on his next official project but in the meantime he’ll be putting out verses recorded over the past few months as part of a freestyle series called “Eat You On Your Own Sh*t”. Here’s the 2nd installment over the Dirty Money “Love Come Down” beat. If you missed the “Popular Demand” freestyle last week, it is below also.
That good sh*t. Tona and Adam Bomb from The 5th Letter Fam connect to pay homage to Biggie the right way. Oh yea, Rich Kidd kinda helped out too. This sh*t bangs and I’m only listening on iMac internal speaks. Can’t wait to get this in the whip.

Urbanology Magazine’s New Issue Highlights One of Canada’s
Most Sought-After Producers, Boi-1Da
Toronto, ON – Urbanology releases its latest issue this week with one of Canada’s most sought-after producers gracing the cover. After producing the Grammy-nominated single “Best I Ever Had”by Drake and the star-studded “Forever” featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne Eminem and the aforementioned Drake, all of Matthew ‘Boi-1Da’ Samuels’ hard work is beginning to pay off.
His first feature in Urbanology was when he was only 17, five years ago, after being crowned champion of the Battle of the Beatmakers competition. This producer battle was an annual event sponsored by Urbanology, where the hottest producers in the city would come out and try to take the top spot. Boi-1Da went on to consecutively win this producers battle three more times, before taking the role of a judge.
After sitting down with Boi-1Da for the cover story, it was clear that despite his rapid growth to success, he still remains humble. He is a positive symbol in Canadian hip-hop and continually reiterates the message of always going after dreams and never giving up hope, the theme of this issue.
Also included in this issue is a feature on Bite TV’s Rhyming Chef, world champion beatboxer Scott Jackson and an in-depth feature on corporate Canada’s move to using the urban voice in marketing campaigns. Plus read all about how, after finding a new home in Canada, Death Row Records seems to have a chance at a resurrection
