Here’s something new from Colin Munroe off his upcoming project called “The Revox Suite”. If you remember his revox of Bob Dylan’s “Who Killed Davey Moore” off the Unsung Hero Mixtape then you get the idea.
First up is a revox of Sky Ferreira’s single, “One”. Colin Munroe actually had the pleasure of working with Sky on her upcoming LP (more on that later…), but here’s a chance to hear “One” like you’ve never heard it before.
The whole Electro revival thing is cool to me but I’m not in love with it. That being said, here’s an example of a new artist who’s definitely doing his thing in his own lane. Shouts to one of the only indy labels out here doing anything even vaguely urban related properly, URBNET.
MC/producer/songwriter Don Cash burst onto the scene in 2004 with a series of classic CD-Rs that won him the attention of LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and saw him described as a “21st century icon” by The Fader Magazine. His 2007 European debut release Don Cash II –which cannily foreshadowed the current electro fixation in rap circles — received rave reviews in NME, i-D magazine and The Independent, while he was described as simply “King” in the Sunday Times of London. A Toronto native, Don Cash’s highly anticipated full length URBNET debut Freshy Fresh is out on URBNET Records now.
New producer Soul takes a fresh approach to marketing himself as a beat-maker with what looks to be a series of instrumental-only viral videos. Good idea! Directed by Zac Facts.

Between the Art of Fresh project with D.O., the Slakadeliqs, his production work and his solo projects through BBE Records, Slakah is easily one of the hardest working dudes in the city. Here’s a look at his new solo Something Forever EP cover (release details coming soon…).
We’re at the last round before the finals in October. Producers sign up before September 8th if you haven’t already. All the info is at www.soundbattleroyale.com!
