Toronto’s three time Stylus Award winner Kid Kut in collaboration with IV Play Entertainment present an evening of music to benefit MusiCounts Canada – Known for being a member of one of the pioneering urban sound crews representing Toronto, Canada, Kid Kut (formerly of the Baby Blue Soundcrew) has been a staple in the Canadian music industry for almost two decades. On Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 at the Hard Rock Café (259 Yonge Street at Dundas) he and fellow music lover Natalie “IV Play” Powell invite you to share in “The Gift of Music”, an event featuring live performances by a star-studded roster of artists that have worked with Kid Kut as a producer and MC, and share his love of music. This A-list event, hosted by Kardinal “Mr. International” Offishall, shall feature live performances by Kim Davis, Aion Clarke, Daniel Daley, Choclair, Saukrates, Trish, Melanie Durrant, Ray Robinson and pianist Khandi, with appearances from several surprise guests. An after party will follow with music by two of Toronto’s top rated DJs, P-Plus and Jester of The New Flow 93.5 FM.

Footage from the Dead Prez concert that took place last Thursday at The Great Hall where new Toronto collective The Freedom Writers (Tona, Frankie Payne, Mathematik, Theology 3, Progress, Adam Bomb, and Big Sproxx) performed together for the first time. Thanks to HipHopNthrn, we get a sneak preview of some music plus some freestyle action from each emcee, and also insight into what the movement is is about. AUX-TV takes a look at commercial hip-hop with some help from the likes of Classified and Prevail (from Swollen Members). I dunno. Although Class and Prevail make some points worth talking about I only got through a few minutes of this before getting upset and thinking the hosts are just generally misinformed, have no idea what they’re talking about and just crafted the segment to make a cliche point.
