For so long we’ve been chasing recognition. Some times I feel like during that chase, we somehow forgot the lessons hip hop has been teaching us for most of our lives, like be you, and be real! Shit! Sometimes its like hip hop forgot that lesson. I guess this is what makes Frankie different, special and unique. Frankie has always been able to captured, what we at the FPA call the “The Real Toronto Experience”.
You want to talk about grinding? You want to talk about hard work and dedication?
Frankie Payne has been providing us with authentic music, an identity and a legacy since the 90’s, and he’s one of about three MC’s from Canada that have been around that long and are still better then most MC’s of this generation. They just don’t make MC’s like this anymore!
It’s a new day. That be said, we at the Free People Association are pleased to present the Official Video release of My Life Feat. Saukrates. This single has been tearing up the air waves all year, so we’re going to take it to 2011 with a spectacular visual courtesy of Test Francis (IHP Media).
Whether you call him Jugganot (Everything is For a Reason) or Frankie Payne, it’s obvious to anyone who knows their Canadian Hip-Hop History, nothing is going to stop this guy! With an ever growing buzz, and upcoming Projects like, Freedom Writers, Clarity, and The QC compilation, I think it’s safe to say, go ahead and get excited about 2011!
Era kicks of 2011 with a new joint called “Wow” (over the Yung LA beat). Here’s more info courtesy of his team:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Fresh off the release of his new single and video “Fame and Fortune”, JD Era quickly returns with another banger for the people. Next up for Era is a track called “Wow” produced by Beat Billionaire.
The beat for the song is a different sound for Era. Not only that but it’s a very unique sound overall. Laced with synthesizer sounds, Billionaire’s beat gives Era a heavy bass line to lay down his verses on. The up and down style really allows Era to experiment with his flow and makes his change in voice sound impeccable.
As usual Era delivers his lyrics with a force and delivery that few can match. As always, he shows his cleverness while talking to the lady of the song with lines like “I could be your Eddie Murphy you could be my Scary Spice.” Not to be forgotten is the confidence he has that has made his position as Toronto’s best undeniable. The whole song shows this confidence but it’s with lines like “if it’s raining in our city book a flight to where it’s sunny” that make us remember whom we’re listening to.
Without a doubt, JD Era’s star is rising at a rapid rate. The continued success of “Th1rte3n” along with it’s singles and videos, as well as this new track, 2011 is looking to be a big year for the man known as The Prince of the North. There’s only one word to use that describes how we at BMMG feel about Era’s work. Wow!
