Luke Boyd, better known as the acclaimed Canadian rapper Classified got his start in Enfield, Nova Scotia, launching Half Life Records to release his self-produced first album Time’s Up, Kid in 1995. Over the years that followed he released a steady stream top selling rap albums, and toured the globe. Energized by the success, and nominated for several Juno Awards along the way, he’s now preparing the release of his masterfully executed new album ‘Hand Shakes and Middle Fingers’ through Sony Canda & HalfLife In Canada and New Yorkâs emerging hip-hop powerhouse Decon on March 29th in the U.S.A marking the first proper US release of his 16 year career.

Montreal, QC â Another sad day for Canadian hip-hop⌠a sad day for music. While Montreal police have yet to confirm the identity of the man that was found dead in Little Burgandy early Saturday, Bad News Brown aka Paul Frappierâs brother Louis Frappier has confirmed that it was in fact the body of the talented rapper/harmonica player that was recovered. He was found at Richmond and William Sts. close by Lachine Canal and was pronounced dead on the scene. Police cited violence to his upper body but would not confirm if the death was a result of a gunshot wound.
Bad News Brown had become a fan favourite in Montreal and he had been opening for some of the biggest names to come through the city including Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kanye West and most recently, New Yorkâs Red CafĂŠ (January 9 ). His unique harmonica-only based music video âReignâ has picked up over 300,000 views and itâs a great demonstration of his musical ability. Click here if you havenât seen it. His 2009 album Born 2 Sin was well received and fans were anticipating his new material. This past summer he was featured on the huge âExpos Fitted (Remix)â by Magnum 357 along with the rest of the whoâs who of Montreal hip-hop. Just a few examples of the many things that had made Bad News Brown one of the most promising artists to try and âmake itâ out of Real City. He was only 33.  The world has been robbed of an extremely talented and hard working artist and weâre very saddened by the news.
