The Gifted Club returns with Part 5 of their viral video series. This one features Ms. Davis! Catch up with their movements on their Vimeo page.
This episode is a peak into how a song can come to life when you least expect it.
I was fortunate to work with Kim Davis, a very passionate, honest songwriter with an amazing voice. We made some strong records in the past, so I was confident that this session would be no different.
Kim had a song call “Ridin'” that she had written a while back but couldn’t find a beat that suited it. So she hit me up and asked if I wanted to take a shot at it. Well, after hearing her sing the hook and verse to me acapella… I was sold! I thought a simple melody and drum pattern would do the trick so Kim’s vocals could lead the whole song. In the end, I was very happy with the track.
Vocally, she brought all the passion a producer could hope for and lyrically she was honest and witty, what a great combo! Hope you enjoy a glimpse into “The Studio”.
Nice likkle viral joint promoting Boothe‘s latest song “Do It For You” feat. Kim Davis and Rocksmith Clothing out of NY. Shouts to the Barber Shop cameo. For those that know…you already know.

Fresh off taking home “Artist Mixtape of the Year” at the 2011 Stylus Awards for We On Some Rich Kidd Shiiiit Volume 4: The Boiling Point, the “Original” Rich Kidd drops the music video for his second solo single entitled, “Don’t Sleep On Me”. Over the past year Ritchie has built upon his accolades, winning “2010 Best Urban Performer” at the Toronto Independent Music Awards and having produced “Listen” off Shad’s album “TSOL” which was named “Best Rap Recording of the Year” at the 2011 Juno Awards. Following Ritchie’s first single “Take It Slow” (which was also nominated for “Hip-Hop Single of the Year”) “Don’t Sleep On Me” serves as his message to listeners that haven’t taken notice yet: like lying on a bed of nails, Rich Kidd ain’t nothing to sleep on.
Joint dropped the other day and needless to say, the city’s lovin’ it. Here’s the official DJ pack which includes main, instrumental, acapella and 8-bar intro versions. Thoughts and prayers going out to Durty Keyz who I’m sure is smiling in Heaven right about now. If you need to get caught up, peep the previous link below. KEYZ OF LIFE baby!!!
This one got a ‘soft’ release last year (and we played the hell of it on OTA Live!) but definitely glad it’s finally getting an official release. As a collective these dudes are ALL heavily slept on…. maybe they need a name?
