NEW VIDEO: Shaun Boothe – The Unauthorized Biography of Oprah Winfrey

hyperadmin | Video | Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

I just learned so much.

FINALLY Shaun Boothe returns with Part 7 of his now famous biography series of songs/videos. The Boothe grind is getting heavy again as he just also released his latest single featuring Kim Davis (below if you missed it last week). To get caught up on the Bio series just peep the YouTube page!

From rags to riches, Oprah has become one of the most powerful and influential women in the world. With the recent finale to The Oprah Winfrey Show, Shaun Boothe pays tribute to the end of an era.

Shaun Boothe presents Part 7 of 12: the Unauthorized Biography of Oprah Winfrey

Having previously covered cultural icons such as: James Brown, Bob Marley, Muhammad Ali, MLK Jr. & Obama, Jimi Hendrix & Sean Combs, Shaun’s next chapter will be Tupac Shakur.

Poised to be next on the list of Toronto Canada’s hottest new musical exports, Shaun Boothe separated himself from the pack with his critically acclaimed Unauthorized Biography Series.

Inspired by Nas’ tribute to Rakim, Boothe’s Bio Series videos summarize the lives and legacies of a wide variety of cultural icons in rhyme form.  Getting blog love from Kanye West and tweets from Diddy himself – Boothe’s sixth icon to get the biography treatment for his ‘Huster’s Edition’- it’s clear that he’s getting the attention of the right people.

With a handful of singles floating around the net, the time has finally come for the release of Shaun’s first full body of work. Waiting Room is a compilation of previously released, unreleased and brand new material.

Boasting production from his go-to producer and cousin Nineteen85, along with a few self produced tracks, Boothe proves on every song to be an honest, thought-provoking wordsmith – Soulfood in a fast-food driven market.

“Oh, your shoes match your shirt – that’s fire/My actions match my words – that’s flyer”

The overall sound is big, musical, sample-driven and often pulls heavily on the raw and genuine emotions of a young kid climbing his way up and looking toward the stars.

“Never had a plan B, this is all I even planned to be”

In an industry where your live show can make you or break you, Shaun Boothe is renowned for his conceptual and highly interactive performances – many of which have graced the opening stages of concerts for multi-platinum artists, including Talib Kweli, Kardinal Offishall, Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Snoop Dogg. Never satisfied with conforming to the norm, Boothe continually pushes the envelope in the live element of hip-hop. One can only imagine what a show it will be when his stars align and he moves from the side stage to center.

Waiting Room hits the street July 5th, 2011.

INTERVIEW: PG w/ HipHopCanada.com

hyperadmin | Interviews | Monday, June 13th, 2011

PG chops it up with HHC while promoting her debut release Elements of PG (which is available now!).

This young woman has an upside that is very real at this point. Her potential grows as her understanding of her own image and vocal talents develop. She’s a hybrid of vocal ability who transitions between rapping and singing with impressive ease. PG‘s first project entitled Elements of PG is on it’s way and has been preceded thus far by her latest video “Tune In” as well as several video blogs detailing her creative processes. Surrounded by a dedicated team and another graduate of The Remix Project, she gives HipHopCanada an earful in our latest Prolific Profile.

HipHopCanada: How do you define hip-hop, and where do you feel you fit into that definition?

PG: In my opinion Hip Hop is a form of expression. Like paintings and other forms of art, music is a way of articulating your feelings. I believe Hip Hop is no different and I fit into that definition because with my music I share my stories. It is my way of letting the people hear my life, my struggles, and my successes. It is also a way of escape for me, where I can creatively say all the things I may not be able to say when simply speaking.

HipHopCanada: What drives you to stay in a business that is rarely profitable and highly competitive?

PG: To begin, the love for music. Despite profit and competition, good music speaks to my mind, body and soul and I love me some good music. So even if I am making it for myself, music will always be with me. Secondly, I would say the support I get from the people who actually take time and listen to my music, and who love it. That makes me feel good and lets me know that I am doing something right, that’s motivating. In addition, the haters also motivate me to surpass all the negativity and strive to become a better artist to shut them up (LOL). Lastly, the fact that I know I am a great artist and the possibility to take my music to the next level gives me something to strive toward.
