Having proven his versatility with singles for the ladies such as “Material Girl” and street anthems like “Must Be The Money”, Harvey Stripes returns with “Come On”. Boasting a sexy hook by R&B superstar crooner Lloyd (Interscope/ Zone 4), Harvey paints a picture about a plush lifestyle of flying from the Poconos to Aruba, pearl-colored Benzes, rocking Louis Vuitton from head-to-toe and more.
Produced by Beat Merchant, it is the lead single from the rapper’s “A Dollar & A Dream” mixtape, which is set for release on July 11, 2011. A Cazhmere-directed video was shot earlier this spring and will be released shortly.
“A Dollar & A Dream” features guest appearances by Lloyd, French Montana, Mario, JRDN, A-Game, Captain Hooks, Mayhem Morearty and more. With clever wordplay, infectious hooks and production by Beat Merchant, Bass Line, Arthur McArthur, Pro Logic and more, the project is set to make a significant impact on hip-hop and become an instant classic.
Before Keyz passed away last year he had started work on a compilation album called Keyz of Life. The plan was for him to work on that while his partner, Burd, started work on his comp, Burd’s Eye View. In tandem they were to complete both projects and further solidify themselves as new producers in the game.
…it is with great pleasure that I present to you the first single from Keyz of Life! They actually gave this beat to Shi over a year ago and she had the song written before he passed. She was generous enough to contribute the song to the album which (based on the vibe and content) is a perfect lead single for the project (imho). This is also Shi’s debut solo single and if you’ve been following what’s been going on in the city then you know that Shi Wisdom is a name that a lot of people have been talking about (and for good reason as you’re about to find out).
Anyways, if you didn’t catch this on Scratch‘s mixshow or over Stylus weekend…enjoy! Here’s more perspective from Burd also:
I’m proud to present the lead single off of Keyz of Life to you all today. This track has a special place in my heart, because it was the last track I got to show Keyz before he passed. I remember when Shi sent me a rough copy of the track I was blown away. I immediately sent it to Keyz and he called me back saying, “YOOOOO!!!!! Who is this Shi Wisdom girl?!!! She’s touggggggggh!!!”. The track is also special because it really is a Burd & Keyz production, we both touched this beat, and you can tell it has that signature Anthony “Durty Keyz” James bassline that gives it that groove.
Enjoy this chunne and bump it all summer long! – Burd
