Congrats to the kid Lincoln Blache on his debut release:
April 20th 2011 marks the day that Lincoln Blache has chosen to release his debut EP “Lincoln High”. The collection includes 10 tracks crafted based off High school experiences of a young man reaching for the stars and taking the ultimate risks in achieving his dreams of being a superstar musician . “Lincoln High” was conceptualized ,written, and recorded in Toronto , Atlanta , and Los Angles as well as in between traveling during tour dates. It embodies a change of pace in music by fusing sounds of Rock n Roll , indie , pop, soul, hip hop and r’nb into the sounds that the world would soon to come to know as Lincoln Blache.

I captured this little gem on March 11 2011 at a CMW show. This was shot with my new AG100. The song is very significant to me and I’ll tell you why. About 4 years ago around this time I was on a shoot (It was a Zaki Ibrahim Show) and I heard this song for the first time. Although at the time it was performed over an instrumental of an MF DOOM song. It immediately caught my attention because I am a pretty big MF DOOM fan. Anyway to hear Tanika on the track breathed new life to that song. To hear such a soulful take of the song with such beautiful bittersweet lyrics melted my heart and I’ve been a fan of Tanika Charles ever since. This eventually led to me seeking her out to work with her on various projects including the “Silly Happy Wild Sessions” that lead to her EP release May of 2010.

All specific beef and conflicts aside, I still think artists need to let go of the ‘hater’ thing man – just think of how redundant it gets to all the people that don’t hate you.
