Lyve gave us a taste of how he’d flip Ms. Jackson if he had the chance (shouts to Tona). Now here’s a whole tape of Janet-influenced compositions (right in time for her visit to the mega this weekend!).
“This right here is an instrumental tribute tape to the great Ms. Janet Jackson. I used most of my favorite songs, sampled, tweaked & chopped up, ready for your listening pleasure. All tracks/beats produced by yours truly, Lyve. Not to mention, she IS in Toronto this week, so this should hype up those who are reaching the event. I also have a mixtape (yes. I DJ too) that I made a year ago, to follow up, hopefully in a few days.”

This is the first Part of The Sleepless Nights visual film. Directed By Footage. Saint Chris And Footage first saw it as a trilogy, but after shooing was done, it was cut down and was released in two parts instead. Filmed in Toronto, at the abandoned Kodak Building. Smoke grenades, flares and below zero temperatures made it a difficult yet fun shoot. Part 2 DreamVille…Coming Soon.
Nice to see Khalel back on his journey as an artist. He started to make a name for himself a few years back but took a break from the scene for a while to take care of, well….life. Here’s his new EPK video which features him talking a bit about his influences and what he’s got coming up with his new project. Peep the post below to get caught up.
Via HHC. Nice. I think it’s so funny that people are always surprised that D-Sisive always gets nominated for Junos. His projects are just consistently that solid on a straight hip-hop level. That “If…” track off this album is sick too. Don’t sleep. Besides, he has songs called “Russell Peters”, “Rob Ford” and “Stroumboulopoulos”. Who does that?
One of my favourite tracks off the new D-Sisive project Jonestown 2. This is “#1 Record” featuring Adam Bomb of the Fifth Letter Fam with cuts by Lil’ Jaz. The track was produced by Norman Krates of the Arkeologists. -HHC
