From EIKNARF on HB!

A-Trak is not an uncommon name in this crazy music industry. We all know this humble story of this Montreal-er – a multiple DMC Champion handpicked by Kanye West to be his touring DJ, co-founder of Fool’s Gold Records, a pioneer in this electro dance scene, an avid twitter-er, a renowned hotel reviewer and the list goes on. EIKNARF and Asian Dan in collaboration with Media Contender & KLOUD had the opportunity to be invited into Alain’s apartment/studio to get a candid view into how he got to where he is, what it took to get there and where he is going. djatrak.com

INTERVIEW: Famous Feature w/ Naked Eye Magazine

hyperadmin | Interviews | Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Famous chops it up with Naked Eye Magazine about the city’s music scene and what he’s got cookin’ in the lab. The “I Wanna Know Your Name” remix video drops March 16th!

Famous is one of the city’s emerging talents.  If you haven’t heard about him yet, you must be living under a rock because he has worked his way up to become one of Toronto’s big guns. As an upcoming artist he has also been steadily on his grind looking to be noticed and to win over his “screw-faced” audience.  The Juno-nominee has greatly contributed to the city’s urban culture, both behind the scenes and at the front of the stage.

Famous, how would you compare Toronto’s urban culture now to how it was years ago?

I think the culture itself has always been around. That’s what Toronto is known for. I think the quality of the music is getting better. I think there’s an energy being created right now and things are looking like the late 90’s when Kardi, Chocs, Sauks, Baby Blue and them. They had the movement progressing until BET came and Master T left.

INTERVIEW: Boi-1da Talks Over w/ The Source

hyperadmin | Interviews | Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Via TRF! 1da chops it up with The Source about Drizzy’s new joint!

After the success of “Best I Ever Had,” and “Forever,” it only makes sense for Drizzy Drake to hit up his go-to producer in order to craft the artist’s most important single of the young star’s career for Thank Me Later. The Source caught up with Boi-1da to talk about how the song came about and the producers’ feelings on the early feedback of “Over.”

Talk about how you went about creating the track “Over.”

Me and another producer by the name of Al-Khaaliq. He’s a dude that makes sample quality music that people think it’s a sample. Like “Over” sounds like a sample but it’s not a sample. I remember I was in L.A. in a meeting with Interscope and he sent it in my email. I put it in my headphones and I was like “Whoa, this is crazy I need to get on my laptop and get this working right now.” I went right to the studio and just flipped it, that night. Once I sent it to Drake, the rest was history.
