NOTE: Quality on these ^^ files are 192 & 204 (204?! never knew there was such a thing, lol).
I asked them to send over better quality files, so discerning heads check back later for a potential upgrade.
UPDATE: Files have all been changed to 320! Shouts to The Showboiz on the quick hit back!
And while we’re on the topic of mp3s:
SIDEBAR:
ARTISTS/PRODUCERS/MANAGERS – 320 bit rate is the standard. There’s no excuse for anything less.
It costs nothing extra to convert your files to a higher bit rate (and by convert I don’t mean taking a 192 mp3 and making it a 320.. that’s a serious no, no.. you’re only making the quality worse.. you should always convert mp3s from an uncompressed format like wav or aiff). You may think it’s all the same when you’re bumping it in your ipod, but trust me, when a deejay’s playing a weak 192 mp3 next a 320 – there’s a NOTICEABLE difference.
Don’t take the factors you actually have the ability to work in your favor for granted.
New D-Sisive = new reasons to love him for his candidness about rap life, lol…
(is that Warren Beatty in the pic?!!)
If Andre 3000 wrote his own press release, you’d…Naah. Too obvious. Unless you haven’t heard ‘If…’. Then not obvious at all. But once you hear it..so obvious. Fu*k it.
It’s 7:06 am. I’m sitting on my sofa, struggling to write a ‘proper’ press release for my new singles. I’m also monitoring my cat Willy’s recent detox from wet food. He’s sweating. Climbing the walls. It’s hard to be funny when your cat is calling you a ‘piece of sh*t.’
I tried to start with the city I’m from, followed by cheap adjectives. Toronto. Prolific. Alternative. White. Rapper.
Rappers always refer to their new songs as ‘Smash Hits’ even though nobody has heard them. Even though nobody will ever hear them.
“I’m taking over this year!” That’s a good one.
2 new singles, produced by Muneshine, off of my new album, also produced by Muneshine. My new album, which will be my last album released under the ‘D-Sisive’ monocle. Moniker.
Sorry if I confuse you with so much new music. It can be very confusing.
Sing me a swan song.
Derek

ps. If you live close to Toronto, you should come to my show at the Horse Shoe on November.27.2010. It’s a funeral for my second album. Live band. Tuxedos. Should be fun!

Some new freestyles L dropped last week.
“I was supposed to work on a new song last week and booked studio time to work on it. Only problem was the beat wasn’t ready. I didn’t want to cancel so I decided to go do a little lyrical exercise on two of my favorite Jay-Z songs. Here is the final result, I was gonna save them for another project but seeing how today is the 12th and everyone wants some new heat I figured why not just put ’em out.” – L
When you think of the major cities producing talent, you may think of New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, D.C.; well it’s time to start including Toronto. Following in the footsteps of fellow natives Glenn Lewis, Melanie Fiona and Drake, Aion Clarke is the next in line. I wasn’t even familiar with his music until I had discovered Bryan-Michael Cox plugging the work they did together on Twitter, but boy am I glad I found it. When I come across an up and coming artist who finds importance in keeping the musicality of singing alive, coupled with an amazing voice, I have no choice but to support them. Check out my interview with Aion where we discuss his roots in music, forming a group in Toronto with Drake and Melanie Fiona, working with Bryan-Michael Cox, and the hit he almost penned for Monica.
Full interview after the jump!
Vote for his MCC chart topping single “I’m Coming”HERE!
