New Drake “You Know, You Know”. Produced by Mr. West.
Was kinda hoping a tagless version would drop for this before posting it cuz it’s sooo sick but ah well. Can’t believe this isn’t on the album tho.. I guess the sign of a great artist that’s about to drop an album is there always ends up being a song not on it that makes you scratch your head. Hopefully this sees life as a bonus cut on iTunes or an import (do they still do UK, Japanese versions of albums anymore??).
TML, June 15th.

The LIFE Files chops it up with Drizzy about the album leak and more.
Personally I think it sucks to be an artists in 2010. You’re damned if you flat out say you’re disappointed that your project got leaked (cuz it’s perceived as a sign of weakness) and damned if you don’t because now you gotta lie to yourself and act like all that work you put in meant nothing to you.
The truth is: no artist with a sense of pride and integrity can invest the time, heart and passion it takes to make a great album without caring that it was released without their approval. It just doesn’t correlate with the basic human idea of putting sincere effort into something you believe in and naturally wanting that thing to be put out on your own terms. I mean if that was the case, an artist would simply say ‘fuck an album’ and release random dope songs and free mixtapes online.
On one side we want artists to musically give us everything they have; but on the flip side we don’t want them to care that, after giving us all they had, some idiot decided to capitalize on their hard work for his or her’s own selfish moment of gratification.
It’s not just about the money lost; and it’s not about the reality of the free digital world; it’s about some irrelevant nobody coming along and undermining all that hard work and effort.
Leakers are bottom-feeders; straight-up.
And anyone that doesn’t see that has never worked an honest day in their life.

Copyright bill would ban breaking digital locks.
By Peter Nowak, CBC NewsA key clause regarding the breaking of digital locks, however, could trump many of those other permissions. The bill would make it illegal for a person to crack a digital lock placed on a device, disc or file. It would be illegal to copy a CD or digital song sold with copy protection on it, for example. The bill would make it illegal for a person to crack a digital lock placed on a device, disc or file. It would be illegal to copy a CD or digital song sold with copy protection on it, for example.
Minister of Industry Tony Clement unveiled copyright reform legislation at the Electronic Arts video game studio in Montreal on Wednesday. (Adrian Wyld/Canadian Press)The government has introduced new copyright legislation that would legalize activities commonly engaged in by thousands of Canadians — such as copying a CD — but which would criminalize breaking digital locks placed on gadgets and media.
The legislation, Bill C-32, proposes enshrining in law some of the following measures:
- The express legalization of format shifting, or the copying of content from one device to another, such as a CD to a computer or an iPod.
- The express legalization of time shifting, or recording television programs for later viewing but not for the purposes of building up a library.
- Allowing consumers to make a back-up copy of content to protect against loss or damage.
- A YouTube clause that allows people to mash up media under certain circumstances, as long as it’s not for commercial gain.
- A “notice-and-notice” system where copyright holders will inform internet providers of possible piracy from their customers. The ISP would then be required to notify the customer that he or she was violating the law. The violator’s personal information could then be released to the copyright holder with a court order.
- ISPs and search engines would be immune from the copyright violations of their users.
- A differentiation of commercial copyright violation versus individual violation. Individuals found violating copyright law could be liable for penalties between $100 and $5,000, which is below the current $20,000 maximum.
- New exceptions to fair dealing that will allow copyright violations for the purposes of parody, satire and education.
I dunno man (imho) if the powers that be really want to address piracy, public rights and the unfair loss of revenue for artists and other entities, they have to go directly to the enabler – which is the internet service providers. Turn the tap off and let the chips fall where they fall.
