Stole this one from Shake too. Heard industry whispers about this girl but here’s the first joint to be leaked from her project (that I know of anyways). She’s managed by Chris Smith Management (Nelly Furtado, Kreesha Turner, formerly k-os etc…). Here’s an excerpt from her bio with a link to the full bio below. Shouts to Chin who is considered music royalty in T.O. and has “worked with Dr. Dre” as part of his amazing list of credentials.
This Calgary native’s musical roots lay within Jazz and Classical. Since the age of 5 she has traveled across North America performing with choirs and on her own. Jenna’s passion for making music has developed into what is now a sound she can call her own.
Big Break
At the age of 18, Jenna opened for Shawn Desman (Sony/BMG) and the Canadian Pop group,” Sky” in her hometown at MacEwen Hall which, at the time, created quite the buzz. Her performance caught the attention of Vancouver based musician singer/songwriter and Juno Award winning artist Chin Injeti (Base is Base, Snow) Suspending her studies in Broadcasting/Journalism at Mount Royal College, Jenna moved to Vancouver for the opportunity to collaborate with Chin and pursue music fulltime. “…music is what I had to do… [Chin] helped me develop my craft.”-Jenna (BEATROUTE magazine).
I’m definitely a lil’ late on this but better late than never…especially for a great cause like this. Shouts to C4 for doing something a lil’ different and taking the initiative to actually help someone’s wish literally come true. Basically, C4 linked with the Make a Wish Foundation to make 16-year old Myles Guenin’s wish of recording and releasing a song come true. Myles suffers from Lupus and is a music fan thanks to hearing artists like Lupe Fiasco and Drake. The track ultimately became a collective effort and I’m sure everyone involved learned a lot as well as felt rewarded by the outcome. Shouts to be from The Legends League for the sick artwork also (does this guy ever disappoint?).

Lots going on for Show Stephens right now. Def a good look as far as hitting the web hard to introduce himself as a new artist (no pun intended). Digression: Artists, producers, management teams.. it’d make sense for you all to do a premium register (yes, pay a fee cuz you know, this is a business) with sendspace, yousendit, soundcloud, zshare (tons of others, take your pick) so you have your media assets permanently uploaded and available for as long as you need them.. Cutting corners on things like this just makes your overall campaign that much harder to execute and sustain (and no I ain’t taking a swipe at McCallaman, just using this “Real Love” post to spread some real love via some real industry advise).
And no disrespect to usershare, you gotta make your money somehow, but those random video/audio pop-up sex ads are not helping your popularity as a professional upload platform.
Nelly Furtado pulls another “Natalie Portman” on this one. She’s not in the video but word on the net is she’s replaced Rhea as the female vocalist for N.E.R.D.’s upcoming “Nothing” album (which is ironically and/or strategically set to drop on Drake Day – June 15th).
The Rhea/N.E.R.D. thing is still unconfirmed but given the way news travels in this digital era, I’m sure you’ll get official confirmation waay before we do, lol.
“Just had two days off. We have 3 more shows then break for the Juno’s in St. Johns. Michigan State was glorious! Always more of the same different thing, there are very few who know the music we play. Transforming stone faces into smiling faces has to be the most fun i have had in years. I was thinking about it.. and i really like the term ’supporting act’.
Supporting Drake I feel there is much room for chicanery and subversive text in the 40 minutes i am on stage. Tricky energy connecting with his crowd and showing them a kind of introverted love… i can’t be too eager i don’t think..
A lot a girls in the front row waiting to see this dude.. it is so outrageous, ostentatious but VERY real and ‘inspiring’, having said that living on a bus is heavenly as the spring turns to summer last night we recorded music in the back lounge the results of that session will soon be blasted into the ether.
