NEWS: Untitled Signs to DTP + Ludacris – How Low (rmx) feat. Untitled & Quinn Maybach

hyperadmin | Music,News | Friday, February 5th, 2010

Shouts to Quinn Maybach who got me the news that Untitled has signed a deal with Ludacris’ Disturbing The Peace label! They kinda disappeared from the scene after having some great success with “All I Need” and “Crazy” a couple years back and we KNEW they were on their grind south of the border so to get this news isn’t necessarily a surprise (as we knew they were destined for big things) but definitely very welcomed! CONGRATS to the whole fam!

Here’s a remix to Luda’s hit “How Low” featuring Untitled and Quinn Maybach! Produced by Toronto producer T-Minus!!! Also…hit the jump for a video of DTP head honcho Chaka Zulu and Untitled clownin’ in the studio!

hyperadmin | Music | Friday, February 5th, 2010

If you haven’t gotten up on LGTW yet, here’s your chance. The Toronto-based group has been doing their thing for a minute now (behind the scenes as well as in front of the mic/camera). In this post you’ll find their full-length album Karmageddon as well as the MP3 for the single off the album, “Don’t Love Me”. The video for “Don’t Love Me” hit the web a few months back as well (link below)!

Peep their MySpace for more info! The group has toured with MIA, wrote/produced “Mmm Papi” for Britney Spears, recently played with k-os and Santogold and their album comes out in Japan, Europe and Australia in March 2010!

NEW MUSIC: General – Runaway Slave (rmx) feat. Jordan Croucher

hyperadmin | Music | Thursday, February 4th, 2010

General links with Jordan Croucher for the remix to “Runaway Slave”. Video’s being shot this month also.

“Runaway Slave” serves to reach the youth in a method that’s meaningful to them.  The song comes from GENERAL’s appreciation of black history and overstanding how the past is relevant to each of us in the present.

As someone that personally believes the individualistic nature of hip-hop as an artform makes it completely possible for there to be sick, talented, female producers; I can’t lie.. I had a sincere WTF moment when I saw this posted on HHC, and listened to the actual song.

Now I know Neenah from the joint “Spell On Me” she sang with Camoflauge; I know she produces music; but I guess my honest initial reaction speaks to the bigger question of why there aren’t more female producers, not just in hip-hop, but in urban music (A question the dude Grumpy might try to cover in his panel discussions next month??).

Anyways here she is on production for Dj KO’s “Get Em” which features Silent Knight, Skyzoo & Emilio Rojas.

DISCLAIMER: Because we’re a society of devil’s advocating cynics, immediately ready to counter anything that seems ‘hyped up’, lemme just say that I am in no way implying that she is that next-level beat-maker coming for (insert your all-time favorite producer)’s throne (chill, chill). BUT if you’re telling me that when you looked at that angelic face above this commentary, you automatically thought raw-dog hip-hop producer… then hey, I apologize in advance. Everyone else: Have a happy (and hopefully welcomed) WTF moment on me.

NEW MUSIC: Good Company – Ms. 416 (Prod. by Fundamental)

hyperadmin | Music | Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Good Company is Fundamental (from T.O.) and Ayatollah Jaxx (from Pittsburgh). So I guess Fundamental had Jaxx here in the city and well…he clearly fell in love lol. Don’t blame you dude…we already know we got the finest ladies here. Anyways, here is Jaxx’s love for Toronto women in rhyme form.

6 time Pittsburgh Hip Hop Award nominee, Ayatollah Jaxx has released “Ms. 416” (prod Fundamental) the official single off of his upcoming solo LP Hello, Hip Hop.  The Good Company duo (Ayatollah Jaxx & Fundamental) are building off the formula showcased on their critically acclaimed debut The Damn Good EP released last April and are now hoping to further the success with the ballad hip hop has been lacking.

In an effort to re introduce himself this time around, Jaxx utilized not only his pen game, but his vocal talents as well by singing the hook and bridge on the single.  The past few weeks, Ayatollah Jaxx has been running a promotional campaign by releasing one exclusive song per week since January 20th up until the album drops on March 9th.

The first two songs were “Killin It” (prod B-Free Da Misfit) and the Internet sensation “Sucka For Love“. Two versions of the album will be released, a free download and a special edition with 6 bonus tracks. Hello, Hip Hop drops March 9th on Godsendant Music.
