T-West gives us his re-interpretation of Drizzy’s latest; taking the hook, dropping his own 16, and giving it a nice uptempo electro-twist. It definitely doesn’t hurt to be an emcee AND a producer.
Oh, and if you’ve been looking for something new from the kid West (I’m still bumpin’ “T-dot State Of Mind”!)peep his myspace page for two new joints that definitely keep him on my ‘one to watch’ list
(not that I have an official ‘one to watch’ list but, you know what I mean).
If you were wondering what’s been up with Bishop Bigante from say ’04 to now, I’d say this freestyle pretty much sums it up nicely. Original beat? I don’t know, impossible to tell nowadays.
A nice joint off Wolfe J’s mixtape (DL link below). Shouts to G!. Rich Kidd comes nice on the beat (as per usual) and KJ shows why he’s one of the most promising artists in the city.
“I’ve been hearing about this record for quite sometime. And I must say… it’s pretty dope (although it still might be an unfinished version). Off Timbaland’s Shock Value 2. Shouts to DJ Neptune.”
Update via NR: “Both the bonus joints had ref(erence) in the filenames so it’s safe to say they aren’t finished as well. Believe It Or Not is a Gucci track featuring Drake and neither will be on Thank Me Later.”
Part II of Chris Shaban’s editorial piece “In Defense Of Drake”:
You’ll read this if you’re a real hip-hop fan.
Part II
Thanks for coming back here to read Part II at Cityonmyback.com. To be totally honest, I wasn’t expecting so many rap peeps to get at me, especially with cool sites like this one picking it up, so I have tried to make this edition a little more Hip-Hop than Part I (Which after reading it online sounded more like a biography on a person (me) that you’ve never heard of and probably don’t care about.) I got enough ‘Shabby, what the bloodclotare you talking about?’ to last me a lifetime. Because each site is different, I have worked with Ty to post it here in a unique way. To make it easier to read on this site, the FootNotes will actually appear right after the sentence in parenthesis and blue text. It makes its seem really LONG that way, but it’s super easy to read. If you want to view it in actual ‘FootNotes’, where you can roll over the word with your mouse and the blurb pops up in a neat little box, click the link above that says ‘FootNotes blog!’ right under the Drizzy studio picture.
