“ATLANTA — At the Atlanta Civic Center, Young Jeezy — who often has high-profile guests to join him onstage — pulled off a huge move during the BET Hip-Hop Awards, kicking off the show by bringing out surprise guest Jay-Z. Hov and Young opened the show with “As Real As It Gets,” with the two hip-hop heavyweights going back and forth on verses. With the audience on their feet by song’s end, Jeezy said, “Welcome to Atlanta.”
Jay later took home the MVP of the Year award, beating out such popular peers as Lil Wayne and Drake. Hov dedicated his win to Mr. Magic, Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube. “Brooklyn, we did it again,” he said at the conclusion of his brief speech.
Other big winners announced during the show were Drake for Rookie of the Year and DJ AM for DJ of the Year……”
The BET Awards air Tuesday October 27th @ 8pm on BET.
I will make this intro ultra quick. First, thank you for taking the time to come here and read FootNotes. This all started because Famous told me that I have to start getting out in public more to interact with ‘people’. Well, it’s been about 6 years almost to the month that I got home from touring as the host of 2003 VJ Search for Much and CIM. I had decided to fall back and focus on building my personal business. But, on the other hand, The Kid’s right, I’m not in the mix enough. So with that in mind, I started FarBeyond FootNotes. I am going to use this mainly as a vehicle to speak to business partners. However, in my heart, I really hope that hip-hop fans will read this too. And that is why you’re reading this here on HipHopCanada. Although the actual FootNotes blog is housed at my site, FarBeyond.ca, I felt like it was important to have it up here too. I have been friends with Jesse ever since I first started writing on this site in 2002 and it’s been an ice-cold minute since then. I’m happy that he still thinks enough of me to post this.
Now, to be straight up, you may have to read this whole piece slowly, maybe even go back over a certain line once or twice. I am known for talking too fast and saying too much, so that is the main reason I created FootNotes. It’s a kind of like ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’. You can read through this blog without ever reading a FootNote and it will still make complete sense. If you want to give’er, then I’d suggest you digest the little blurbs. If you go to blog.farbeyond.ca to read this you’ll be alerted of a FootNote because the word will be a different colour. You can just roll your cursor over it and the text will appear very neatly in a box above the word. Here on HipHopCanada for the sake of logistics, and because I promised Jesse the article a day early, you can click on the bolded words and they will take you to the corresponding footnote. When you’re done reading the footnote, simply click ‘Back’ and it will return your place in the article. Of course, you can always scroll down to the end of the piece to see all the notes, if you’d like. I can’t emphasize how much better the article is when you read the FootNotes.
Enough blah, blah, blah – Let’s Get Down To Business. I’m happy to take y’all FarBeyond FootNotes . . . Enjoy.
This is an unfinished leak that’s been circulating so expect an updated version in the future. Word is Mr. Daley is working on a new mixtape and an EP that should be out soon!
“With the pending release of his Brand NewFEATURING…NO FEATURES E.P. and the phenomenal World Wide response to recent videos, songs and live shows, THEO3 is embarking on a One of a Kind“KEYS TO THE CITY” Canadian tour in Oct./Nov 2009.
THEO3’s entire catalogue (Screwface Capital Ep, Time EP, I’m Goin’ IN cd and the NEW FEATURING…NO FEATURES” ep) will be available as a $5 Download (each) for people bringing their USB KEYS to the venue. CD’s and T Shirts will also be available. More dates TBD in Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto. Stay Tuned.
THEO3 is one of Toronto’s most highly respected and frequently collaborative artists. There’s nothing better than pairing with an emcee who brings their unique vibe and talent to a track, whether it be Mayhem or Grimace Love, Shad K or Drake, Empire or Tona, Adversaree or Ski. These various collaborations have brought together vastly different styles and sounds on many occasions. These songs ultimately worked because each person had a one of a kind vibe and unmistakable presence as an emcee. With that in mind, THEO3 continues his own personal evolution on FEATURING…NO FEATURES.
Come to the shows, spread the word and bring your USB Key to download the discography. We Goin’ IN!
Entry #95 in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Solitair, the Toronto native who brought us reader-approved cuts Can’t Front, Dreams and Summertime. On his brand new, previously-unreleased It’s My Time freestyle, the Black Jays rapper flows over an original, self-produced beat. Solitair is currently preparing for the late-October release of new mixtape The Soloist, as well as the early-2010 arrival of studio album The Departure, featuring singles The Flyest (w/ Lil Wayne) and My Number (w/ Nina Sky). He has contributed several beats to The Kid Daytona‘s forthcoming, yet-untitled album, in addition to producing Akon-assisted single Teaser off Kardinal Offishall‘s Mr. International LP. Solitair has also been working closely with up-and-coming talents on both sides of the border.
