Caught this on HHC! “Money Thing” is a Dylan Murray song from a couple years back. This is a remix that Camo put together. We usually don’t put up picture-montage type videos (i.e. unofficial videos) but the way they incorporated the original video plus the lyrics etc…kinda gives it it’s own life.

Artists, don’t sleep on trying to get some much-needed national exposure. There is absolutely NO reason for you not to submit (as long as you have digital or physical distribution you can qualify). My 2 cents. Here’s the latest release from the Juno rap committee:
2010 JUNO AWARDS CALLS FOR RAP CATEGORY SUBMISSIONS & ANNOUNCES RAP ADVISORY COMMITTEE RE-STRUCTURING
Seeking submissions for Rap Recording of the Year and announces recent Re-Structuring of Rap Advisory Committee.
Toronto, ON (October 21, 2009) – The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced that submissions for The 2010 JUNO Awards are now open. Submission processes have been improved since last year, making it easier for Canadian artists to submit work for consideration in advance of the 39th edition of Canada’s Music Awards. CARAS has again secured the services of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP to be the official ballot accountants for the 2010 JUNO Awards. The 2010 JUNO Awards week will be held in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, April 12-18, 2010.
In an effort to strengthen the relationship between CARAS and the national rap community, the advisory committee for the Rap Category has been restructured over the past year. The newly restructured committee includes seasoned label representative Jay Devonish (E1 Entertainment), David “Click Cox” (Stylus DJ Awards), Greg Baptiste (MuchMusic/CTV), Jody Laraya (Universal Music), Jesse Plunkett (HipHopCanada.com), Melissa “DJ MelBoogie” Langely (CKLN 88.1FM), Jay Swing (Beat 94.5FM), Kyle Kraft (Battle Axe), Dice B (CINQ 102.3FM), Don Smooth (K103FM), rez DigitaL (Flow 93.5FM) and Darryl Rodway (Urbnet).
As a unit, the committee is making strides in developing outreach to rap artists across the country, both English and Francophone, to increase the number of submissions. By partnering with radio shows, online magazines and DJs across the country, the committee hopes to raise awareness throughout the community about the submissions and judging process, specifically for rap artists. “We’ve assembled a great team of people from around the country who are actively working in various aspects of the urban music scene,” says Jay Devonish, Chairman / JUNO Awards Rap Advisory Committee. We’ve also worked closely with CARAS on the jury list to revise it and ensure the people voting on the Awards are qualified and active within the urban community. We’re excited to work together with CARAS to ensure the rap community is properly represented at the JUNO Awards.”

Melanie’s The Bridge (which is out in Canada now) is releasing in stores in the U.S. in November. It’s now available on iTunes for U.S. residents also so you know her promo campaign is about to get kicked up a notch which we don’t mind because the more Melanie posts the better in my humble opinion!
“Yesterday morning, singer-songwriter Melanie Fiona kicked off a multicity tour with an intimate performance at Clinton Recording Studio in midtown. For the lucky, in-the-know fans in attendance, this “secret” concert was well worth the early rise. The Guyanese-Canadian showed off her extraordinary talent by performing unplugged songs from her debut album, The Bridge, and answering questions about her recent projects and musical influences. Despite Fiona’s budding career, which has included opening for Kanye West and working with well-known artists such as the Roots, the singer remains incredibly down to earth. Thanks to our handy Flipcam, we captured the highlights on tape. If you like what you see, check out The Bridge, which drops today (October 20) exclusively on iTunes.”

From Shad’s blog! Don’t have too much info on this (G, can you get us more deets???) except that it’s from Irish producer Danny Diggs’ EP. Dope visuals to compliment the track though and you know Shad is one of the nicest in the city (even though he’s not technically from this city, but you know what I mean)!
“Our good homie Matthew from 360 to Nowhere sent me a note at 6am saying that he just finished the touches on this piece! Straight love bro.” – G
UPDATE: “The video itself is a fan video… well, a fam video, made by our homeboy Matthew. He heard the tune, went home and wrapped some visuals around it over the weekend. The track is off of Danny Diggs’ EP called “Introducing” Shad’s verses on the track were actually laid down for a completely different song. Danny Diggs did his job on this cut though!” – G
