New tape courtesy of TopLeft Recordings and Morburn Music. Although there’s no ACTUAL Toronto vs. Montreal rivalry (that I know of anyways), the tape’s still a great way to showcase MCs from both cities. Features Peter Jackson, Adversaree, Magnum 357, Alex Dimez, Mayhem Morearty, Kolor Brown, Don Million, Rich Kidd, Malicious and much more! Full tracklist under the hood!
Via Jester’s joint! FINALLY! Some new Ray Robinson! Don’t know what the big plan is yet (album etc…?) but we won’t worry about all that right now. For now, just take in this new joint by one of T.O.’s finest!
Courtesy of MissInfo. The U.S. tour is called the “Campus Consciousness Tour” or “The Away From Home Tour” (???) and will also feature opening acts k-os (dope look!) and Francis & The Lights (a synth-pop band from NY). I’m sure there’s some science behind the first name that we just don’t know right now… “Away From Home” is part of 5th Annual Campus Consciousness Tour, produced by Pretty Polly Productions and non-profit environmental organization Reverb (from XXL).
So, U.S. tour set for April/May should mean solid dates for first single and album coming soon….Anyways, full tour dates under the hood. (more…)
Shouts to GENERAL who was the 1st winner of GlobalTV’s, The National Post’s and Flow 93.5 FM’s Have Your Story Told Black History Month contest! New video from a new artist named Scarkat…reppin’ Scarborough I’m guessing! Gully joint and simple but well-executed visuals to go along with it. The joint is off his Chillin’ Chillin’ Psycho Villain Mixtape and is produced by THR. Video directed by Zai Toussaint for G-Force Entertainment. Check out more info on Scarkat at www.SCARKAT.com!
The Beatchild’s new group “The Slakadeliqs” will be soon releasing a full length album. Special guest appearances by Justin Nozuka, Ebrahim, Tingsek, Ayah & Tanika Charles.
Join the Slakadeliqs Facebook group & stay in the loop! 🙂
Anyone that knows my stance on artists and how they release their music knows I’m pro-snippet; and I definitely think video sharing communities provide a highly promising venue for artists to bring the audio snippet theory together with visual accompaniment BUT I’ve yet to see anyone do it properly. Which is why we almost never post youTube audio; cuz as pro-snippet as I am, posting a youTube photo collage on a blog just looks REALLY BAD.. no matter how good the music is (photo/music syncopated viral vids like Shaun Boothe’s/T-West’s etc are the extra extra thin line).
Slakah gets credit for trying to address this and I hope other artists build on his example (and of course my critique of the visuals have nothing to do with the quality of his music).
Like I was telling my partner reZ… there HAS to be a standard, cost effective way for artists to maintain a professional visual stnadard when posting their music on video sharing sites… we’re just not thinking hard enough.
But back to the actual post.. Definitely looking forward to this new Slakadeliqs project.
