Directed by Paul Haggis
Recorded on February 1st, 2010, in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier (Henson Recording Studios, formerly A&M Recording Studios) “We Are The World 25 For Haiti”, in which Jones and Richie serve as executive producers and producers, was created in collaboration with executive producers Wyclef Jean, Randy Phillips and Peter Tortorici; producers Humberto Gattica and RedOne; and co-producers Rickey Minor, Mervyn Warren and Patti Austin to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti.
Of course Canadians Drake, Melanie Fiona, Justin Beiber, Paul Haggis (all Ontarians; crazy!) and Celine Dion were part of this cause-worthy remake.
Kudos to Quincy for leaving Michael’s verses intact.
Harvey Stripes has been on his grind lately (see below for some of his recent work). Here’s his latest video, “Material Girl” feat. Jay Vado and starring the one and only Anaya Hayes. Directed by The Sharpshooter! Vote for “Material Girl” now on The Megacity Countdown!
Theo does it again. That good hip-hop ish produced by Anonymous Twist.
It was a phenomenal 2009 for Toronto Emcee Theology 3. Releasing the buzz video “50 Bars, Same Pattern” videoand the critically acclaimed single “Make It Big”(2009 best of list Halftime Show NYC) helped build up world wide anticipation amongst fans and DJs alike. As a thank you to the growing number of supporters, Screwface Capital® records offers up the Brand New Bangin’ single “IT’S THEO3” produced by Anonymous Twist (Sean Price, Planet Asia, #1 Rap Attack Charts in 2009 with Opio and Roc.C) for download. The hard driving rhythm of the track is complimented by Theo3’s unrelenting lyrical assault. Blast it in the whip, iPod and home stereo system! Vancity’s SonReal hooks up with two of T-Dot’s finest for “What If” off his album The Stroll which is out now. Based on this and the video for “Who Am I”, which is also from the album (link below), it seems like we have a new artist to watch for in 2010. Lovin’ how the new crop of Vancouver, MTL and Toronto artists are working together on collabos etc…but I digress. Get Son Real’s The Stroll here and check him out on MySpace.
One of the best MC’s in the city, Promise, links with Rhymefest, Mikkey Halsted and Malik Yusef for a new joint called “Brotherhood”. Dope track especially in the delusional world of hip-hop where showing “love” to another man is usually followed by ridiculous statements like “pause”. Grow up kiddies.
Here’s another (longer) version of Drizzy’s Sprite commercial. You get more 40 but still no shot of Boi-1da…(that’s him on the right of 40). Under the hood is another behind the scenes clip as well. Via NR!
