Dope!
Lord Quest’s Statement:
Shout’s to my dude Mark Valino. This piece was from a joint i did way back with my man Brisk, which will probably never see the light of day. But its just a free forum vent on the things in the world around me and how us as young people are blinded to some much. We take the time to glorify all the negative and not the positive and never seem to think to better ourselves for the long-term…only for immediate gratification, so this is me BROADCASTING FROM LIFE to ya’ll….U.H. Crew….Peace peace
Valino’s Log:
Funny story behind this shoot. It all starts when I heard the song “Must Come Down” with Element, Junia-T and Lord Quest. Love that tune! While working on the Rich Kidd EPK I met Lord Quest and Element at a rehearsal for the Kendrick Lamar show and was fortunate enough to be there to shoot some Behind the Scenes stuff. I knew very little about Quest at the time and he performed a couple songs including “Swan Dive” which messed my mind up pretty bad but that’s another story. I was able to connnect with LQ at the Manifesto’s “Fresh” showcase and mentioned to him that I came specifically to hear “Swan Dive”. Later that night he played me some more of his tunes and we started talking. Cut to Sound Academy for Manifesto’s Boot Camp show which I was there to try and get a Monolith Freestyle Cypher in front of the Toronto skyline that was planned. I ended up waiting for over 2 hrs missing Boot Camp and the shoot never happened. Quest texted me earlier to see if I was going to make it to the show. So as I was standing outside waiting on monolith I texted LQ back and asked if he was interested in doing a verse for me. Luckily he said yes even though he was on his way home and had to work at 8am the next day. He really saved my night from being a bust and came out of it feeling pretty good about what we had. This was shot in less than an hour and just 2 locations outside Sound Academy and Front St. The main thing on this piece was wanted to keep it as simple, honest and raw as possible.
Over the years, many Canadian artists have found success in the United States with their music to the point where this country claims them just like they are one of their own. Toronto native Melanie Fiona had dreams of making a career in music, but it took her leaving her home and coming to the U.S. for her to become an international star with the release of her debut “The Bridge”. After the album went on to become Gold, Melanie finds herself not only as one of the brightest young talents in r&b, but also one who has been heavily requested by her peers to work with. Had she remained in Canada, one would have to wonder if all of this would be possible. Now, as she prepares to release her sophomore album “The MF Life”, Melanie Fiona looks to shine even brighter while continuing to put Canada on the map. In this exclusive interview following her performance at Summer Stage in New York City, we talk about what to expect on the album, growth she’s experienced since her debut, her current single “4 AM”, Tyrese reaching out to her for a collaboration, coming to the US to find success, and covering other artists’ material.
The Purple Hearts collaborative project between singerBrendan Philip & producer Lord Quest gets some visuals for “One Whole Breath” and “Intro Heart” off their self-titledrelease.

I was at the studio with @Talksik_TGC of The Gifted Club. He suggested I spit over “The What” instrumental, a Hip Hop classic! I was hype and got to work.
Not long after that we got together again and shot this video, directed by @MBrothersFilm. See how it turned out,
