Living in Montreal for the past five years means I’ve been to some really good parties!! But, even before I moved back to the Dot I’ve been hitting up The Main Ingredient.  This jam has definitely spoiled me!  What can I say, the line up boasts some of the city’s finest DJs, the tunes cater to a sexy mature crowd and the party is rocked at the hassle-free, anti-club district spot, Revival.  It’s a recipe for success and you could be all up in the mix this Saturday with a chance to win 2 free tix to the the one year anniversary of all this goodness..

This party is brought to you by two of the cities dopest promoters Shaman Fam and the Academy (Hi Jesse!). Music you can expect to hear will range from UK soul, Mowtown, classic 60’s and 70’s. Detroit street soul, nu-jazz, the illest hip hop and more. I’ve definitely heard myself yelling ‘snap!! haven’t heard that tune in a minute!!’ and reminisced on songs that I just couldn’t wait to hear in a club for the first time.

Like many good things, Main Ingredient came about totally by accident. Filling in a gap at Revival one night led to a successful chain of monthlies, merging the soulful sounds of DJs Agile, Mensa and Sean Sax. “The vibe of the party came from us playing the records we usually want to play but couldn’t at our usual parties,” says Shaman Fam rep and Main Ingredient host Wan Luv. “We also wanted to create a platform to put on new and under-exposed DJs and Artists”. To date Main Ingredient has featured guest DJs Rich Medina and Neil Armstrong, and has also hosted the Canadian debut of The Foreign Exchange. When asked how the name and concept came to be, Wan explains that it pays homage to the 70’s soul band of the same name and bigs up the hip hop album loved by all members of the Main Ingredient team.
