This originally dropped pre-cityonmyback era but Dj Fase decided to re-release his remix to Ivana Santilli’s “Whateva U Want”.
In the summer of 2008 I was asked to do a Remix for Ivana Santilli’s down-tempo Radio R&B joint ‘Whateva U Want’. I ended up making two different Remixes. Ivana and her management jumped on, and accepted my ‘Lover’s Rock Reggae Remix’, but passed on my Up-Tempo/Disco-ish one. It really surprised me that they didn’t take the Up-Tempo one as well. I thought I was giving them a very well rounded, something for everyone Single, on a silver plater, but it wasn’t meant to be. Also, at the time I felt like I had something to prove. I felt like people were putting me in a very small expectation box, as a producer. I guess part of me, still feels that way. I wanted to show the world what a underestimated “DJ/Producer” mind could do for any product. I guess, maybe I still do? Anyhow, I always liked the Up-Tempo Remix, so here it is, you be the judge.
