Blake Carrington, also known as, Sir Astronaut Carrington, with his ever fresh flavour, is bringing to the world of hiphop, his highly anticipated first release ‘Cole Sweat’ off his upcoming project entitled “Dare To Dream”. The project will be dropping 10-10-10 on www.blakecarringtonsworld.com.  The collaboration between producer Ric Notes and rapper/producer Blake Carrington himself has been nothing less than creative and eclectic.  After the 2010 summer release of his mixtape, “Love Is A Risk”, Blake continued to gain the love of fans, and the respect of his peers in the industry, but it will be the “Dare To Dream” project that will allow Blake to stake his claim in the industry.

Talib Kweli was one rapper Blake remembers looking up to as he learned about the art of hiphop. In 2005, Talib judged a freestyle battle called Knock Kings, where Blake placed 3rd. Recently, Blake was able to grace the stage in Toronto and Montreal with Talib, who stated about Blake, “A year later, I seen this —– take down a world renowned rapper at his own show”. Rockin’ the mic at Talib’s shows, Kweli’s dj, DJ Hi-Tek stated “I would be remiss if I didn’t let this —– rap on some shit….This —– is ill with the freestyle”. Back in 2007, Blake took a trip back home to the states to perform at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, which is well known for the harsh criticism of new talent, but Blake won, twice. Blake lost on his third attempt, but while many would have given up, Blake continues to follow his dream.

The upcoming  album is sure to offer a variety of rap tactics, but the single ‘Cole Sweat’, like Blake’s infamous Gumby hair cut, offers listeners a blend of old school flavour, and as Blake likes to put it, ‘a brand new flow’. Blake’s musical repertoire is multi-faceted. MIA, Kanye West, Outkast, Cool Kids, Nas, Tribe Called Quest, N.E.R.D., and of course, Talib Kweli, are some of the artists that Blake’s musical inspiration stem from. Blake is always working on mastering his craft. Freestyling has become more than just a pastime for him. With that being said, Blake’s lyrical skills and creative content make this album a hot accessory to any stereo and dj. ‘Cole Sweat’ is just the beginning of what the album has to offer. As the precursor to the album release, Blake will be opening for Pac Div October 4th at Revival, Toronto. Be sure to check him out at the show. The audience is never anything other than captivated by Blake’s interactive, high-energy stage presence. Stay tuned to the release of “Dare To Dream” coming 10-10-10 featuring the debut single, ‘Cole Sweat’.
