Official release of JB‘s latest tape, Monster Music.
Canada’s voice for the streets and leader of GCP Recording Corp. is back with a new mixtape entitled “Monster Music”. JB makes a bold return to that classic aggressive hip hop and proves on “Monster Music” that gangsta-rap / street music is making a return to the main stream this year in a big way! With tracks like “Who Am I” and “So Gone” JB puts real life situations on record and gives fans and those struggling something to think about. Monster Music signifies to the industry that JB is here and ready to take over!
The mixtape is a compilation of unreleased tracks and dubs as JB is working tirelessly on new projects and releasing a ton of new music! Be on the look out for new videos and singles dropping from JB world wide on Itunes through GCP / Fontana / Universal.
Deadline for submissions to this year’s Stylus Who’s Got Next compilation CD is April 18th BUT for tomorrow only (April 7th) they’re offering a $5 discount for the submission fee which takes it down to $15. In my opinion it’s worth the $15 (0r $20) just to have your song screened by the panel of DJs that pick the songs that ultimately end up on the comp (i.e. you’re guaranteed that a crop of influential DJs will hear your song at least once). If you actually get picked you get tickets to the show, tickets to the BBQ plus a bunch more worthwhile stuff. Anyways…just my humble opinion. More info below.
1. Submit Your Best UNRELEASED song for a chance to be featured on the “Who’s Got Next?” CD Compilation.

Dope initiative in the city that you could really help take to the next level right now. Basically, they’re part of an online challenge being put on by Pepsi and with enough votes could win 100K to help grow the program. More info below!
The “Krumping Out Crime” program helps the community, the arts, and furthers education.
Community: Helps the community by providing at-risk youths with a place to go to after school where they receive free food, free drinks, and a sense of family (rather than them seeking these things through gangs).
Arts: Helps the arts by introducing dance programs to schools that lack them, for free. Dancing is one of the most necessary arts, but it’s hard to establish due to how expensive it is to introduce it and upkeep it. The program will offer all of this for free, lowering the entry barrier.
Education: In order to receive free dance lessons the kids have to have an hour of tutoring before hand, mandatory. This will increase their desire to stay in school, since they actually understand the material now, and help them graduate high school. This has already been a success in previous schools with an increase in graduation rate, and a decrease in violence among the program participants.
BEATFACE (possible group name of the year lol) is comprised of members Paul and Book. If I’m not mistaken, this is technically their first official release! Whoop whoop, bom bom, bam bam, clack clack (or whatever preferred celebratory sound you’d like to insert here). Congrats fam! Here’s more info on the group:
BEATFACE members Paul and Book started out wanting to be songwriters. Based in Toronto, they began crafting music for other artists but as time progressed a distinct sound emerged and they grew attached to their songs. Soon they decided to forego the songwriting route and keep their creations for themselves.
The BEATFACE sound can best be described as a mix of electronic, rock and pop music. Their influences run the gamut from Esthero and Dallas Green to Portishead and Deadmau5. They will be releasing their debut EP and touring later this year.
We all struggle over these questions. Trying to find ourselves, our purpose! In this way we are connected. Everyone has a different path. It’s just that all paths are going in the same direction. All of the things that separate us are illusions. Colour, demographics, belief, these are only surface reflections of the true source of our division. The imaginary difference between rich, and poor. There are two worlds, two realities. One will never touch the other and the other will have unlimited access to both. Because in a rich mans reality, for the wrong choice he might face disgrace, embracement, or maybe punishment. But in a poor Mans world, for the wrong choice he will face death, hunger, and imprisonment. We all understand this, even if we don’t acknowledge it, more then many of us are ready to die for a chance to access an untouchable, unrealistic, reality.
Once again Frankie Payne is back with an emotionally charged hard hitting masterpiece of unprecedented detail, Raining in Toronto. Featuring the soulful sultry Voice of Andreena Mill, Frankie Payne delivers a true description of everyday events happening in the hood and how the affect us all. Following the huge success of “My Life” (featuring Saukrates) and the ever growing buzz of the Freedom Writers Collective, Frankie Payne wanted to re-introduce this classic tale showcasing his clever, visually inspiring lyrics and legendary story telling ability. Over a powerful and moving musical composition, courtesy of Snaz (Andreena Mill“la la la”, French Montana, Dame Grease etc.) and with clever, well thought out visual concepts courtesy of Jason Gosbee (Second place winner of the youtube International Film competition, White Collar Criminals, OMG (TV Movie). Frankie Payne takes us on a journey through the ghettos of Toronto, Capturing the emotions, and realities of the people who live and breathe them. Raining in Toronto stands as a metaphor representing the depression, and oppression, that can only be understood if experienced. Because this where hope is born. The same places where bullets fly and mothers cry. Because we don’t have to die!
