T-West returns with his Black History Month series right in time for Martin Luther King Day. Here’s words from T-West himself and peep under the hood for the YouTube video for the track. Always great to see young artists trying to use music to help make a positive difference. Shouts to T-West…T-Dot State Of Mind is still my sh*t too!

Back for another year (and with a brand new list) is T-West with his new song “Black History Month 2010” (Produced By Apokkalippz). T-West explained his reasoning for the series in an interview last year.

“I create these songs because I want young people to get excited about black history month. It was frustrating when I would be in class, and none of my black peers were aware of some of the great things that blacks had contributed to history. If I could even get a few kids to listen to the song, enjoy it, and recite the lyrics – then I have made a difference”.

Both songs have gone on to be used in various locations around North America. Last year, Virginia Tech used the original “Black History Month” song on their student association website as their “anthem” for the month. In Ontario, four schools had used “Black History Month 2009” as teaching aids in their classrooms. With “Black History Month 2010”, various media outlets have already inquired about using the song for their black history month broadcasts.

Although it isn’t February yet, the song has been released just in time for Martin Luther King day. T-West has often referred to Dr. King as an inspiration in his music, and is honoured to be able to release the latest installment to his series on a day honouring Dr. King.
