Intimate & Interactive Open Mic was created to bring a sense of awareness around not only performance art but the art of media training in artists as well. Every headliner has been hand-selected to perform and answer questions from the audience in regards to their push and struggle to the top.

Intimate & Interactive proves that everyone has a story and Toronto has many unknown diamonds in the rough ready to take form.

BLAKE CARRINGTON BIO:

Blake Carrington came out of the womb rapping. Born in Toronto in 1983, but raised in Buffalo, New York, Carrington is what young hip-hop artists aspire to be. Rapping is in his blood, his father was rapper DeDot, and when life threw him curve balls, Carrington wrote rhymes out of them. Focusing on his education, he didn’t hone in on his skills till after high school. Graduating from Seneca with a diploma in Independent Music Production, led Carrington to make an executive decision to work on his first album Dolla NA Dream. To fuel the fire of his creative process, Carrington took a trip, back to his state roots, to perform at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. After winning twice and loosing on his third attempt, many would have given up, but Carrington kept at it. He’s still here, making music. As Gentlemen on Mars with a Dolla NA Dream, he has also preformed with Dougie Fresh. From DeDot to T-dot, this producer and rapper is ready.

WOLF J MCFARLANE BIO:

WolF J is part of a new wave of artistes who focus on developing themselves in all disciplines of art. A graphic designer, videographer and most importantly a singer/songwriter, Wolf is inviting eyes and ears to a reality of his own, a technicolour soundscape. His music is a mixture of Hip-Hop and alternative pop, and his writing is a focus on matters of the heart conceptualized through otherworldly imagery and metaphors. Its not enough to hear the man at work, but its crucial to see the paired videos that give the listener a chance to venture into where the magic is channeled as well as the art that is born from or at times inspires the music that is created. Whether in tandem, or individually expressed, the art of WolF J always has a storyline, supported by funkiness and strong sense of humour and wit. Even when the subject matter is slightly somber, he still has a way of infusing the art with an endearing amount of warmth that allows you to proceed with out caution into his Wonka styled world. This is not his first time out, but it is his first time out on the solo tip, and he is adamant about having everything fine tuned and ready to go for the unsuspecting world.

KJ BIO:

Alternative Hip Hop never sounded so good, KJ is what you wish you heard when you were younger and what your glad you heard now. He is “Hip Hop” inviting Rock, R’n’B and Dance Music to dinner and everyone wants seconds.

Compared to the likes of Common, Andre 3000 and Mos Def, this young man is fitted for the Hip Hop history books.KJ is a credited recording engineer and mix engineer, the best sound is always first priority. Self production inspired by Danger Mouse (Gnarles Barkley), Kanye West and many more has made this sound so diverse but yet still current. Raised in England and relocating to Canada at 11 “A Breath of Fresh Heir” is what music needs and is what you will get.
