Besides their music and fans, the true test of an artist’s merit has to be their accolades from fellow musicians and collaborators.  LAL’s accolades as 10 year veterans in the Toronto music scene could go for miles.  Fitting because they are about to embark on a cross Canada tour before traveling to India to record their 4th studio album…

Their most recent album to date, ‘Deportation’ hosts some of Toronto’s best talent including Zaki Ibrahim and Ian Kamau, “I’ve wanted to work with LAL since their 2002 release ‘Warm Belly, High Power’. My favorite track off that album was Brown Eyed Warrior” says Kamau. His contribution to Deportation is ‘Alarm’, a story about the wishful thinking of immigrants who migrate for a better life only to find that this better life comes with a dear cost. “We live in a multicultural society, but we are so isolated here. People are not living each others realities”. LAL spent the better part of this album pushing the experiences of immigrants and non status people to the forefront, a continuation of their own personal experiences and the work they have done with No One Is Illegal from Toronto to BC. In the next few weeks, this Toronto staple will spread the message about what it means to belong somewhere very far away from home…
