The Fine Print – Tour Life – Busta Rhymes

By Jonathon “Bizz” Brown
For those of you who don’t know, I’m working every stop of the Back On My B.S. Tour with Busta Rhymes, Peter Jackson and Belly. Months ago I was presented with this opportunity to bring my Hip Hop Ain’t Dead It Lives In The North t-shirt across the country and last night the west coast of Canada got their first dose of Bizz.
Calgary, Alberta is our first stop and my first time west of Ontario. But even away from home I always seem to find people from back home. As I walked down the street with Zaze and Dj Dames from 90Nickel Entertainment, a young guy spots us and shouts out “Yo Toronto right?!” Turns out he’s from Sauga – go figure. And it happened over and over as I stood at the entrance of Flames Central and greeted the fans pouring in to see the show of their lives.
And it’s fair to say last night could’ve been the best show many fans in Calgary will ever see. Everyone knows Busta Rhymes prides himself on his performance skills, but it became clear how brutally serious he is when it comes to putting on a show. “Don’t touch me,” he said to a fan near the stage in the midst of giving clear instructions for everyone to snap their fingers to “Touch It.” “Don’t touch me because you weren’t snapping your fingers,” Busta blurted before quieting the crowd down to a synchronized finger snap. “Stay on beat Calgary!” he encouraged. After proving their obediency, the crowd got a taste of Busta hits like “What It Is Right Now,” “Break Ya Neck” and “Whoo Ha.” Spliffstar and Busta stood in the center of the stage leaning on each other like a hip hop version of Forest Gump and Bubba. “You lean up against me, I’ll lean right back up against you. That we neither of us got to sleep with our heads in the mud.” – Bubba. Commanding undivided attention and weilding seasoned chemistry, the two veterans flexed their aura and threw down the gauntlet.
On to Edmonton tonight! See me in ya city! That’s The Fine Print
