NEW MUSIC: dj NaNa – Let The Beat Go
dj NaNa returns with his new single and title-track for his upcoming release. From the official press release:
A DJ, performer, producer, music supervisor, and promoter, dj NaNa has already toured the globe behind the turntables, but this versatile artist is also widely respected as an MC. His previous releases, including the well received and critically acclaimed, World Inside My Head (Volumes 2 and 3), earned a lot of buzz when he was just testing the waters as an artist. Described as an “intensely passionate and dedicated lover of music” (CBC Radio), with a sound that is “lush and heavy, soulful and raw” (Vue Weekly), he’s also been called “a solid maker of music, [who] shows glimpses of innovation.” (okayplayer.com). NaNa is now prepping for his full-length debut album.
dj NaNa’s first single off the upcoming album, “Let the Beat Go” is a collaboration of global proportions – literally! Featuring South Africa’s three most prolific MCs, HHP, Tumi and Zubz, the track is instantly infectious, garnering heavy rotation from South Africa’s MTV equivalent, Channel O. Teaming up with Rich Kidd, the remix brings together two of Toronto’s most respected heavy hitters. As a producer, NaNa is known for taking risks that few others are willing to, and this fearlessness is just as tangible on the mic. The B-Side of the first single, “Confusion” demonstrates how NaNa pushes the envelope with his signature hypnotic lyrical flow. Both tracks are currently receiving marketing support worldwide via Spectre Digital. NaNa’s powerful list of credits includes long-standing residencies in Toronto and Montreal, as well as sharing the stage with The Roots, Zaki Ibrahim, k-os, Saul Williams, K’naan, Bedouin Soundclash, Likota Son, and M1 of dead prez.
